Read the review on how to draw on Android. All the best programs for creating drawings. And also useful tips and instructions.

Creative people want to use a tablet computer or even a smartphone to draw. Why not? Modern devices have a large screen on which you can use a stylus to draw - such an accessory is usually very inexpensive. Little children can generally draw with their fingers, then show the resulting scribbles to their dads and moms. All that remains is to decide on the application in which it is most convenient to draw. After all, not every Android device has pre-installed programs designed for drawing.

Draw on Android using SketchBook for Galaxy

If you have a Samsung tablet or smartphone that supports working with a stylus, then you will definitely find SketchBook for Galaxy in the list of applications. For most users, its capabilities will be quite sufficient. After launching the program, you will receive the equivalent of a blank sheet of paper. The entire interface is represented by a modest line with icons at the top.

  • In the upper right corner there are tools that allow you to change the style and color. That is, in this way you can select one brush or another. Their variety can amaze even seasoned Adobe Photoshop experts - there are more than 160 brushes to choose from. This set includes felt-tip pens, pencils of different sharpness and density, pens and a variety of different stickers depicting plants, patterns and spots. Of course, the radius and opacity of each brush can be adjusted.
  • The second icon in the upper right corner allows you to adjust the brush color. This can be done either using the usual color wheel or by selecting specific values according to the RGB system. There is also a set of ready-made color palettes. The developers have not forgotten the Eyedropper tool, with which color is borrowed from an open image.
  • The third icon is used to work with layers. Yes, this is quite unexpected, but the simplest at first glance SketchBook for Galaxy allows you to create an image from different layers! Each layer can be copied, locked, hidden, cleared, and its opacity can be changed. You can also import an image from a camera to a separate layer.

What else does this application allow? Go back about 15 steps. A red arrow pointing to the left is used for this purpose. Clicking on the green arrow allows you to refuse to go back a step. If you click on the ellipsis icon, you can access additional tools. In particular, here you can find “Fill”, “Drawing shapes”, “Text” and different types of guides. Here the drawing style changes - move from free drawing to drawing straight lines.

SketchBook for Galaxy can recognize exactly what you're drawing with. To do this, you need to activate “Pen mode” (located in the menu that pops up after clicking on the gear icon). In this mode, the canvas will not respond to finger touches - only the stylus will leave marks.

In short, the application turned out to be very functional. It gives the beginning artist complete freedom. However, not everyone has a Samsung tablet or smartphone with a stylus, and the program most likely will not run on other devices. That is why it is worth briefly talking about other drawing applications.

Adobe Photoshop Sketch

A few years ago, Adobe decided to release mobile versions of its products. Some of them quickly ceased to be supported - they are now impossible to find on Google Play. Fortunately, Photoshop Sketch is considered a successful project. This program is available for free download. It also supports the creation of multi-layered illustrations. At the same time, here you can save the image in PDF format, which allows you to continue working with it in the computer version of Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.

The application contains a huge number of brushes. As a result, the artist can draw with markers, paints (various types), pencils, pens and more. All brushes are traditionally customizable - the user can choose the diameter and opacity. But most of all, artists will like the fact that the creators have introduced the ability to download additional brushes. To create them, it is recommended to use the Capture CC program.

Of course, there are other tools here - they allow you to draw shapes, lines and perform other actions. There are no problems with choosing a color either. It should also be noted that it is possible to synchronize with Adobe Stock - a bank of licensed images. Of course, to work with the photo bank, a paid subscription is required.

Unfortunately, Adobe Photoshop Sketch also has a serious drawback. To use the program you need an account, and judging by the reviews, some people have problems creating it. It should also be noted that when saving the illustration, for some reason the colors of the strokes become a little more faded.

How to draw on Android smartphones and tablets using MadiBang Paint

An application called “Pocket Art” in the Russian version of Google Play. Indeed, it turns the smartphone in your pocket into an artist's tool. In this case, the developers took the computer version of Adobe Photoshop as a basis, turning it into a mobile product. They got rid of those tools that are used extremely rarely, leaving only the most basic ones. For the most part, the program is designed for drawing manga, for this there is everything you need. In particular, the product allows you to easily insert a so-called “bubble” containing a replica into an illustration. There are no problems with entering text either - there are many fonts to choose from. The program also includes a large number of different frames. A choice of colors is also available - the most popular ones are activated in just a couple of taps. In short, you get the basic functionality of a comic book artist, located in your favorite smartphone! But, of course, the MediBang app is not limited to it.

Familiar tools like rulers and brushes are also present here. It feels like the number of brushes does not break records, however, the most popular options are not forgotten - various pencils, markers, paints and much more are available. The ready-made backgrounds should also please you - again, this speeds up the process of drawing comics. Interestingly, the application developers have introduced a forced reduction or strengthening of lines, which allows you to draw with your finger. But, of course, a masterpiece can only be created by using some kind of stylus. As in many other programs of this kind, individual elements here can be drawn on different layers.

Autodesk SketchBook

Autodesk studio also decided to enter the mobile application market. Her SketchBook works best on a tablet, where the screen size allows you to keep multiple toolbars in view at all times, which greatly speeds up the drawing process. And there are a lot of tools here! They help in creating both simple sketches and full-fledged illustrations. However, a huge number of instruments can also be called imaginary. While competitors offer a universal brush, the shape, size and opacity of which can be changed by the user within wide limits, here different types of brushes are highlighted as separate tools. However, changing brush parameters takes longer than clicking on, for example, the “thin marker” in the corresponding panel. That is, it is noticeable that the guys from Autodesk tried to speed up the drawing process, albeit at the expense of an overly overloaded interface. They also understood that their creation could not be called ideal, so the program is distributed free of charge. In this case, all functionality is available to the user. Advertising here, oddly enough, is completely absent - this is also incredibly pleasing.

You can also use Autodesk SketchBook on smartphones. But here the toolbars will have to be called up from time to time, because they will block the useful space. At first you will search for the necessary tools for quite a long time, but after a certain period of time you will still get the hang of it. There is no point in listing the available tools - it is too long. Let's just say that absolutely everything an artist might need has been added here. The library of available brushes is huge, and their settings also do not raise any questions. Of course, support for layers has not been forgotten, without which it is almost impossible to draw gorgeous art (although skilled artists will argue with this statement). By the way, you can add an existing picture or even an image from a camera to your work.

Experienced artists will certainly enjoy Autodesk SketchBook. For others, the interface may seem too complicated. Interestingly, you can connect Dropbox to the program, which allows you to save your work to the cloud with one click.

ArtFlow: Paint Draw Sketchbook

It's not just apps developed by Samsung that support the S Pen. This stylus is also determined by a program called ArtFlow. This means that on South Korean devices that come with a corresponding pen, the application will correctly determine the pressure applied. That is, there is no need to select the thickness of the line before touching the stylus - it is regulated by the force of pressing the pen to the screen. In a word, the feeling is as if you were drawing with a real pencil.

Of course, you can use ArtFlow without a smart South Korean stylus. The user should be pleasantly pleased with the functionality of the program, and the interface here cannot be called overloaded. As expected, the application supports working with layers, thanks to which different elements of the illustration can be edited at any time. About 80 brushes are available to the user, including not only different types of pencils and markers, but also all kinds of blots and stamps. There is also a “Fill” tool, which simplifies the coloring of this or that element. The “Eraser”, which can come in handy at any time, has not been forgotten. What is important is that all these tools are located in the top panel; selecting each of them takes literally two clicks.

Unlike other programs of this kind, ArtFlow allows you to quickly flip an image, rotate it, and change brightness and contrast. That is, the application combines the functions of a “drawing app” and a picture editor. It turns out that instead of two programs on a smartphone, you can contain only one, thereby saving memory.

It may seem that ArtFlow deserves the title of leader in our rating. Alas, this is not true. Firstly, the number of tools here is large, but competitors offer an even larger arsenal. Secondly, this program contains advertising, which can be annoying from time to time. Thirdly, some features of the application are unlocked only for money. It is clear that the developers are trying to make money. They are not Adobe or Autodesk - studios capable of releasing absolutely free mobile applications, making money on computer versions of programs. Finally, some users are having problems saving. That is, ArtFlow does not work ideally on all smartphones and tablets running Android.

Summarizing

In fact, there are many more applications designed for drawing. However, it makes no sense to talk about them all in detail. We mentioned those programs that have the widest functionality - this is quite enough. Competitors largely repeat the applications discussed above, offering approximately the same capabilities, but on a smaller scale.

Have you ever drawn on a smartphone or tablet? And if so, what application did you use? Tell us about it in the comments.

It is unlikely that today anyone will be surprised to see works of art created without the use of traditional tools - paints, brushes and easels. Along with them, digital technologies have firmly entered our lives. Therefore, we decided to tell you how to draw on Android tablets or smartphones.

This material will present five drawing programs that, in our opinion, are worthy of your attention.

Autodesk SketchBook App- a professional tool, which, however, can be successfully used by both eminent masters and novice artists. The program has a simple, intuitive interface and a huge range of functions, the ability to scale up to 2500%, which allows you to draw even the smallest details of the picture.

SketchBook comes in two versions – free and paid. Of course, for professionals, the second option is preferable, since it allows you to fully use the entire range of available tools (for example, more than a hundred different pencils, as well as brushes, pens, etc., versus ten free options):

Right in the application, using the slow motion function, you can record on video the process of creating your masterpiece. I suggest watching this video, it’s actually simply impossible to tear yourself away from watching this action (the video is in English, but this does not in the least prevent you from enjoying the process):

Drawing tool FP sDraw Pro

Another program that is perfect for creating quick sketches or sketches, as well as for real artistic drawings. Instant access to key features in FP sDraw Pro is provided by the volume key, without taking up a special menu of a separate place on the screen of the mobile device.

The application implements a unique method, thanks to which the lines of an electronic drawing are practically indistinguishable from a drawing made in the traditional way on a sheet of paper.

A convenient functional menu with many settings and tools, the ability to save your work in automatic mode are absolute advantages that make this drawing program one of the best programs for Android.

Watch a short video about FP sDraw Pro in action:

MediBang Paint – pocket art

MediBang Paint is an excellent application that can be put on par with the best drawing programs. Thanks to cross-platform, we have the opportunity, having started drawing our creation on one device, to continue the process from anywhere on another (Windows, iOS, Android, Mac OS X). All work will be saved in the cloud and can be shared with other users. The Android version includes all the functions of a PC, providing a wide variety of tools that will be of interest to artists, illustrators, and even comic book fans.

Let's watch a short video about MediBang Paint:

Clover Paint

Clover Paint app is a first-class graphics editor that allows you to work with images at a professional level, from drawing simple objects and flattening layers to comprehensive detailed image processing. You can create your masterpieces with either a stylus or your fingers. Clover Paint has a huge number of tools. This includes an impressive arsenal of brushes of various sizes, textures, a ton of blending modes, and image processing with any number of layers. It is possible to import or export drawings in various formats. And the huge functionality coupled with a well-thought-out interface will appeal not only to a creative person who is starting to learn the basics of drawing, but also to professional artists or photographers.

Draw cartoons on Android

Very interesting application RoughAnimator. With its help, you can first create a drawing, and then immediately convert it into animation (unlike other programs, when you have to animate your drawings by importing them into other applications). The program is equipped with a full range of functions sufficient for professional work. At the same time, using RoughAnimator is so easy that even a beginner can create a hand-drawn cartoon with it.

Some of the features of the program include:

  • Timeline for timing control.
  • Possibility of preview and highlighting (both previous and subsequent frames).
  • Setting brushes for painting and frame rate.
  • Saving projects, ability to import, etc.

See how it works:

Of course, the programs presented are not the only software with which you can create works of art, or at least get closer to creating them. And if you have such a desire, just download the appropriate application, and the question of how to draw on Android will disappear by itself. Good luck!
