While mobile giants are competing in display sizes, ThL has released a model with a screen of "only" 4.5 inches. The device has a rather nice design and belongs to the class of budget 4-core smartphones. It is this model that will be discussed in the review.

For a smartphone of the price category to which the ThL W100 belongs, the filling is quite high. Dimensions and weight are well matched, the device fits well in your hand if you have it larger than average. The shape of the smartphone is not original, but still looks strict and universal, without a hint of a "glossy plastic soap dish".
On top of the front panel are light and proximity sensors, front camera and speaker, covered with a thin metal mesh. The interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly, mainly medium and high frequencies prevail, there are no extraneous noises and echoes. There is a light indicator of events. Only, unfortunately, it has one color - red. Sometimes it doesn't work correctly.
"Back", "Home" and "Menu" are below the screen. The buttons are touch-sensitive, there is a white backlight, the sensitivity is high. Below is a microphone.
I liked the thickness - not to say that the smartphone is thin, but this is a convenient solution, the device will be difficult to drop from hands. A standard 3.5 mm audio jack, along with microUSB and a power button, divided the top end.
The volume rocker is modestly located on the left side. There are no keys on the right side.
Back cover material - plastic. Part of the frame between the screen and the silvery insert, which goes along the contour of the device, is also made of it. Fingerprint marks are not visible on the body, thanks to the white and pretty color of the device. On the back side there is a small flash and a camera module, bordered by a metal ring.
Below are the manufacturer's slogan and speaker hole. The volume of the external speaker on the built-in ringtones is at an average level. In this case, the sound picture significantly depends on the placement of the device. If it lies with the speaker up, then it is heard much better.
To open the case, you need to pry the cover from the bottom right. Above the battery there are two slots for installing SIM cards: SIM1 (2G / 3G) - on the left, SIM2 (only 2G) - on the right. In the middle is a microSD slot. To replace SIM cards, you will have to remove the battery. But the memory card can be installed and so.
In general, the device makes a good impression for a budget device. The materials are well chosen, the design is traditionally universal, the combination of size and weight is correct, there are no comments on the quality of workmanship.
▌ DISPLAY
The ThL W100 received a screen diagonal of 4.5 inches, which is now quite popular, with a typical resolution of today - 540x960 pixels. Of course, it uses a fairly high quality IPS-matrix. Density - 240 pixels per inch.
The touch layer is made using capacitive technology, the sensitivity is excellent. Supports "multi-touch" up to 5 simultaneous touches.
Viewing angles are maximum. The color rendition is natural, it can be seen well on the street. The display fades slightly in the sun.
The brightness is high, automatic brightness adjustment does not always work adequately, but tolerably. At night, the smartphone tries not to lower it much, because of which the eyes get tired and it is not very comfortable to use. Yes, and extra battery consumption. And so quite a good version of the screen.
▌ CAMERAS
The smartphone has two cameras - front 5 MP and rear 8 MP, at least that's what the manufacturer says. In the Antutu screenshot, you can notice the values of 8 MP and 12 MP for the front and rear camera respectively. In the settings, you can also use a resolution of 12 MP. It can be concluded that in this case software interpolation is used for both cameras. But I was pleased with the front camera. In Skype, now you can easily show yourself in all its glory.
The camera is of decent quality, the pictures are quite "noisy", it is noticeable when the photo is enlarged, but overall pleasant. There are no problems with shooting texts and documents, it is convenient to take pictures.
▌ SOFTWARE PLATFORM
ThL W100 is based on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. The stock JB was chosen as the interface with a small number of changes from ThL. There are various toggles in the notifications menu. Holding down the home key brings up a list of recently opened apps. The company preinstalled its useful apps: Flash Player, Flashlight, Task Manager, Note Book, File Manager, APK installer, Task, Backup. Most of them can be safely removed from the standard Android application management menu. This will free up some memory in the device.
The creators of the firmware were not too lazy and changed the interface a little. The icons are now colored, it looks pretty nice, and the status bar has been conveniently implemented to control the main modules of the smartphone. Moreover, it differs from stock Android "a. So, for example, to turn off Wi-Fi, you need to tap on the icon, and not hold (as implemented in version 4.3)
The lock screen has not gone unnoticed either. It allows you to get quick access to the camera, messages or phone. And of course you can unlock your smartphone. Unfortunately, you cannot change applications to your own.
The management of SIM-cards is implemented according to the same method as in other models based on MTK processors. In the settings there is a separate menu called "SIM card management", where the user selects which of the SIMs will be used for what. Since the priority of SIM cards cannot be changed, only the one installed in the first slot can work in a 3G network. Regardless of whether the data transfer is working or not, two SIMs are available for communication, but if the call comes to the second card (SIM 2 slot), then Internet access will be suspended. If the call is received on the first one (SIM 1, 3G), you can talk and surf at the same time. You can also link a contact's call to a specific SIM card.
The flash can be used as a flashlight, there is a separate utility for this. The file manager will allow you to install applications if you do not have access to the Internet. Well, a compass will help you navigate the terrain.
In the interface of this model, the user, previously familiar with Chinese smartphones, will not find anything new. Except maybe a modified lock screen. Otherwise, everything remained unchanged - no proprietary interfaces, but there are a number of pre-installed applications that many will find useful. I liked that there are no Chinese programs that cannot be removed without the help of Root rights.
▌ WIRELESS NETWORKS
The phone works in cellular networks 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz). In this case, one "SIM card" functions only in 2G, the other - in 2G or 3G. The speed of access to the Internet is typical for this type of networks - up to several megabits per second for reception and several hundred kilobytes per second for transmission.
The platform supports Bluetooth version 4.0 (EDR/A2DP) for file and voice transfer. There is wireless Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/n. The device, of course, can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot) or modem. There were no problems with the connection, the sensitivity of Wi-Fi is high: for example, at a distance of 7 meters (behind the wall) from the ThL W100 router, it confidently showed 3 divisions out of 4.
Your smartphone is equipped with a GPS receiver that supports A-GPS. In operation, the navigation service proved to be quite good - satellites were caught quickly, positioning accuracy is good, receiver sensitivity is normal.
ThL tried to make the modules work flawlessly.
▌ PERFORMANCE
The ThL W100 has an MTK6589 processor and also includes four 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor cores, a PowerVR SGX544 graphics core, and 1GB of RAM. The amount of ROM is 4 GB, of which 1.9 GB is available.
In performance tests, the ThL W100 showed the expected high results. They're certainly not flagship by 2013 standards, but they're in line with what we saw last year with the LG Optimus 4X HD and HTC One X. The smartphone scored 13,527 on AnTuTu and 4,011 on Quadrant. PassMark test gave 2084 points.
The smartphone allows you to play modern shooters and races, there are no incompatibility problems with the device in the Play Store.
Of course, there is enough power for medium-sized games.
In arcade toys everything is very nice and smooth.
In general terms, ThL W100 is a convenient and fast device, in addition to dynamic games like Real Racing or GTA vice city, its filling copes well with video playback, surfing and simple everyday tasks.
▌ BATTERY, CHARGING, LIFE
The result in Antutu Tester was about 413 points. So a day or two of active work, the smartphone is quite capable of withstanding.
With moderate load, phone calls, using GPS to navigate and view traffic, taking pictures and shooting videos, the smartphone can live for more than a day. If you continuously watch videos in HD quality through Youtube, the battery will be discharged after 5-6 hours.

The smartphone has a white color and a thin metal edging.
There is a 4.5″ display on the front. An event indicator of various colors, light and proximity sensors, a speaker and a front camera - all this is located under the display in the left and right directions. Also below the display are the standard buttons "menu", "home", "back", which have a backlight. The volume control button is located on the left side of the THL W100.
The left edge has no buttons. 
But on the top edge there are: an audio input connector, a microUSB port and an on/off button.

Buying a smartphone, you get an attractive, but not at all original, white box with the inscription THL W100. Opening it, it becomes clear that the model is adapted to be sent by mail from distant China to virtually all over the world. This is evidenced by both thick cardboard, pasted over with soft material from the inside, and a transport film that envelops the device itself. And we could not find any reviews indicating that the phone was damaged during the journey to the buyer.

This is very convenient, since, obviously, it allows you to maintain communication in two different networks, due to which we can talk about reducing the cost of calls (with the right selection of operators). Judging by the network settings, it is impossible to determine which of the cards will be chosen as a priority here. You can do it in another way - by installing the card in the first slot, only then the device will be able to use 3G in the specified network.

On the one hand, we have a rather nice smartphone with a somewhat unusual appearance(due to the lack of similarity with the iPhone and without cheap glossy plastic) and quite serious characteristics (both a powerful processor and cameras, even with interpolation).
