Theory on elective astrology. (From the book "Theory and practice of elective astrology"). Using Astrology to Timing the Right Time for Important Things

ELECTIVE ASTROLOGY (from Latin electio - "choice"), ASTROLOGY OF CHOICE, ASTROLOGY OF HOURS OF CHOICE, KATHARCHEN-ASTROLOGY (from Greek katarchein - "to start, show the way") - a section of astrology that uses methods to determine the right time to start any conceived project or to make an effort in a matter that needs to be resolved, whether it be a wedding, a trip, a lawsuit, the start of construction, a change in profession, a significant purchase, a move, etc.
It goes back to chronomancy and calendar astrology. Some echoes of this ancient stage of elective astrology have survived to this day (for example, the idea that you should not get married in May, do important things on the 13th, etc.). With the advent of horoscopes, katarchen astrology gained an independent life. One of the first famous astrologers who developed this branch of astrology was Serapion of Alexandria, who lived near the turn of the BC. Methods of choice astrology became widely used in the Roman Empire, became famous in India (under the name "muhurta-shastra") and Sasanian Iran, then were actively used in the Arab world, and through translations from Arabic became known in late medieval Europe.
The theory of elective astrology is a principle opposite to the theory of horary astrology and complementary to it, since here a forecast is not made based on the known time of the event, but on the contrary, on the basis of the expected event, the best time for its start is selected. The choice of day, hour and minute should be based on taking into account many practical, scientific and theoretical factors in order to determine the most favorable moment to start the project, after which the start of the planned activity should be delayed until the specified moment. The map built at this point - the so-called elective map (eng. Electional Figure, Inceptional Figure), - after the start of the project becomes a horary map. It is believed that this card determines the course of the event throughout the entire time of its implementation.
Frederik van Norstrand gives the following rules of katarchen astrology:
It is necessary to carefully study the natal chart of the person for whom the forecast is being made.
The Radical Ascendant in elective astrology should not be shifted against the rotation of the Earth; those. it must shift against the order of the houses.
It is necessary to take into account the directions and progressions of the natal chart to make sure that the project being analyzed does not conflict with the inclinations and abilities of the native. It makes no sense to build an elective map for a project that is doomed to failure in advance.
It is necessary to pay attention to the position in the signs and the arc aspects of the transiting planets before establishing the distribution of these planets by houses, since an unfavorable position in the sign and negative aspects can cancel out even the most favorable readings by houses. It is often impossible to choose an absolutely harmonious time to start a project, since it is limited to certain dates, and during this period the planets do not form a favorable configuration. Be that as it may, if the project cannot be delayed and must be carried out, the elective card will allow a person to make the best use of the opportunities that will be at his disposal. But if there are contraindications in the natal chart, and the directions and progressions of the natal chart are unfavorable, then even a skillfully drawn elective chart will not be able to help in the implementation of the project. Thus, one should not think that elective astrology guarantees one hundred percent success in any event. And in the event that it turns out to be impossible to start the planned business at the moment determined with the help of katarhen-astrology, then the best way out would be to postpone the start of the project to a more distant date.
The planet responsible for the analyzed project should not be affected by pests - Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto; it is also desirable that it should have the greatest merit in the elective chart.
In the corners of the chart there should not be malefics, retrograde planets, burnt planets, planets that are weak in position in a sign or degree, unfavorably aspected planets. An exception is the case when the malefactor manages the analyzed project, has great virtues, is strong in position in the sign, is in harmonious relations with the other two signs of his trine, has more harmonious aspects than unfavorable ones, and is also removed from the luminaries as far as possible. If it is less than 8° from the Sun or less than 12° from the Moon, then the person will have to face many obstacles and failures in the implementation of the project. The parallel aspect has an influence similar to that of the conjunction, and both of these aspects, as well as the trine, are the most powerful omens of success in an elective chart. The sextile is noticeably weaker, and the square and opposition are very unfavorable.
The most important element of the elective chart is the Moon, due to the fact that it is closer to the Earth than other planets, reflects sunlight and relays the vibrations of other planets, and also moves quickly. Therefore, you need to choose a time when the Moon will be quite harmonious and, if the matter needs to be completed urgently, - fast. Also, the Moon must have a period of increasing light, i.e. the project is best started between three days after the new moon and three days before the full moon. The moon should not be in a falling house, and preferably not in the corners of the map. When the Moon is at its apogee and the speed of its movement is minimal, its influence can be compared with the influence of a retrograde planet. If possible, place the luminaries of the elective chart (or at least one of them) in a trine to the natal Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Ascendant ruler of the person for whom the elective chart is being drawn. It is necessary that this element of the natal chart be unaffected, be in exact favorable aspect with the transiting Venus, Jupiter, the Sun, or, even better, with the planet responsible for the analyzed project. Without a doubt, it is better not to start the project when the Moon forms negative aspects or has passed the point of the full moon. After the full moon, i.e. during the period of decreasing light, the power of the moon decreases, and the implementation of the project will encounter many delays and obstacles; the same will happen with the conjunction of the Moon with Saturn at the South Node, with Saturn ascending or Saturn in the 4th house. If the Ascendant is in a sign of rapid ascension (from Capricorn to Gemini inclusive) and Mars is afflicted, then the native is in danger accident associated with his project, or will be involved in an unexpected quarrel that will cause serious problems in his case.
If the project being analyzed is designed for a long time, then the Ascendant is best placed in a fixed sign, preferably in the 15th degree; or at least one of these degrees must be associated with the Moon.
Pay attention to the fact that the elective chart does not activate the affected points of the natal chart; that the Moon be strong, well disposed, and that neither the Moon nor the angles of the natal chart affect the important sensitive points of the elective chart. The house of the natal chart, which is responsible for the project under analysis, must be supported by the transitive aspects of the elective chart, and its ruler must be strong, well placed and not afflicted in the elective chart.
If the project is related to finances, the natal second house cusp and its lord should be in favorable aspects with the elective chart; there must also be harmonious aspects of the cusp of the second house of the elective chart and its ruler.
It is desirable that the ruler of the natal Ascendant be in the angular or subsequent house of the elective chart, be east of the Sun (regardless of whether it is a malefic or a beneficent planet). It is necessary to avoid the position of the ruler of the natal Ascendant in a falling house or west of the Sun, while the conjunction of this planet with the Moon will be especially unfavorable.
If the Ascendant of the natal chart is controlled by a pest, then it can be safely used in the construction of an elective chart, since it will not harm a person.
If the natal chart is not available, correlations with it have to be excluded from consideration. In the literature on horary astrology and elective astrology, there are many statements about this, in particular, in the works of C. Ptolemy, G. Bonati, J. Cardano, W. Lilly, A. J. Pierce and L. Broughton.
To learn how to draw elective charts, one must first master the art of horary astrology; then you need to practice making elective maps for imaginary projects in various areas of life. In order to succeed in these pursuits, it is necessary to remember what affairs each of the planets is responsible for: thus, the Sun governs business, professional and social advancement, investment, as well as games and hobbies; The Moon governs short-term projects and affairs related to women and servants, as well as domestic affairs; Mercury governs travel, letters, writing, mail and press publications; etc.
In case a person does not have sufficient knowledge to build an elective chart, one can advise him to start the project just before the Moon forms harmonious aspect, and in the middle of Jupiter hour.

Hello, dear students of Argemony University!

Today we will learn to catch a favorable wave of time that goes in the direction we need. This is exactly what elective astrology does - the astrology of choosing the most favorable moment, the best astrological configurations in order to be successful in any action. The start time of something is an important factor and determines the outcome of this event. For example, the time of a wedding, the christening of a child, hiring, opening a business, contacting management about a salary increase, selling an apartment or, conversely, buying it, a surgical operation, a trip, and the like. With the help of elective astrology, you can find a window of opportunity for a particular action. An elective card is essentially a birth chart for the business you want to start.

Elective astrology was also known in antiquity under the name of catarchic astrology (derived from the ancient Greek word meaning "principle, beginning"). There is even a recorded appeal at the turn of the 4th-3rd centuries BC. the commander and bodyguard of Alexander the Great Seleucus Nicator to the Babylonian astrologers in order to find out the favorable moment for laying the city of Seleucia. Of course, the use of elective astrology does not guarantee the complete and unconditional success of any actions, because this success, first of all, will be the result of a person’s own talent and the efforts made by him. However, elective astrology can be compared to a meteorological forecast: it is better to wait for sunny days, and not go on a trip when it is rainy and windy. Elective astrology will help you choose the most comfortable time, which to some extent will help you avoid unpleasant situations.

Of course, the limitations of elective astrology are associated, first of all, with the natal chart of a person for whom a favorable moment in time is selected. If the natal chart is against a person’s doing business, then no matter how favorable the time to start a business is, there will be no success.
By the way, I have a friend. A very creative person. He does a lot with his own hands (mostly draws on different materials), and he also sells his works. I meet with her from time to time (we live in neighboring houses). And somehow I learned from her that she got a job as a seller. So happy that the owner went to her terms regarding the organization of the workplace, that she succeeds, that she brings in a lot of revenue. Was happy for her. And then we met a few months later, and I find out that she had to quit (some intrigues began behind her back, which she can’t stand), that she then also got a job as a seller in another place and again everything was fine at first, and then unsuccessfully . And she went to a familiar astrologer, who told her that this type of activity is categorically contraindicated for her according to the natal chart.

There are also some moral restrictions on the use of elective astrology. You can not choose the moment of the birth of a child, the moment of committing illegal acts or harming a person.

So, what should be the elective card.

1) It must contain a description of the event.

2) Significators of the event must be strong.

3) The elective chart should correlate well with the natal chart of the person for whom the time is selected.

Depending on the event, the ascendant must be in the appropriate sign. If the case relates to a scientific publication, then you need to place the ascendant in Sagittarius. If we want to determine the moment of the beginning of the trip, then the ascendant in Gemini is desirable. The ascendant of an elective chart should not be allowed to be in the 12th, 8th or 6th houses.

Cardinal signs are good for actions that must be completed soon (such as selling real estate). Fixed signs are suitable for those events that should last a long time (for example, marriage). Mutable signs are suitable for an intermediate time range.

The phase of the moon must be chosen according to the desired development of the situation. If you want to expand your business, then the Moon must be growing. If the time is chosen for a diet with the aim of losing weight, then the moon should be waning.

The sign in which the Moon is located is important. For an event relating to the spiritual realm, you should not choose the Moon in Taurus. To start a business, the Moon must not be in Pisces.

Lunar aspects are very important. They show the whole history of the event. The last lunar aspect before the Moon leaves this sign will show how the whole thing will end.

It is necessary to take into account the planetary day and hour. Their ruler should ideally be the same as the significator of the event in question.

Event signifiers must be in their own sign or sign of exaltation. Retrograde and burnt significators are undesirable.

The plan for constructing an elective map is as follows.

1. Determine the planet, sign and house to which the event relates.

2. Find the period when the main significators are strong in sign and house.

3. Find in this period the day when the Moon is in conjunction, sextile or trine with this planet.

4. Construct an elective chart so that the planet is the ruler of the house that corresponds to the event.

5. Check the map for any obstacles.

6. Adjust exact time, minute by minute, so that the significators are positioned in good houses.

As an example, consider how a favorable time for a wedding is chosen. And let's take the date of August 27, 1982 (12 hours) for analysis.

The best guarantee of happiness in marriage is the growing Moon in Taurus or Libra. Avoid the Moon in Aries (“I come first”, which is not conducive to success in marriage), Scorpio (fall) and Capricorn (exile).
In our example, the Moon is growing (8-9 lunar day) and is in Sagittarius.

Ideally, the Moon at the time of marriage should fall into the seventh house, but it is good if the Moon is in conjunction or favorable aspect with the rulers of the first and seventh houses. In our case, the seventh house is Taurus, its ruler is Venus, and just the Moon is in trine with Venus.

The Moon will have a positive impact, being in the corner houses (1, 4, 7, 10). If it is impossible to place it in these houses, then it can be placed in subsequent houses (2, 5, 11). Moon in 6th, 8th, 12th houses should be avoided.
In our example, the Moon is in the second house.

The final aspect of the Moon must be trine, sextile or conjunction with Venus or Jupiter, trine or sextile with the Sun or Mercury.
In our example, the lunar aspect that ends this day remains a trine with Venus (well, a sextile with Saturn also appears at the end, but more on this aspect a little later).

Venus is traditionally considered the ruler of the seventh house associated with marriage. Venus retrograde on the wedding day is unacceptable. It is good when she is in the seventh house, well, or is associated with favorable aspects with the Moon, Jupiter, the Sun, Mercury. The position of Venus in Aries, Virgo, Scorpio is not suitable.
In our example, Venus is in Leo: not the best option, but not the worst either. The cosmic status of Venus in this sign is 2. Mercury retrograde is not usually chosen for the moment of the wedding, however if the couple has been living together for a long time (or each is remarrying), then Mercury retrograde is acceptable in this case.

Good aspects are needed for Saturn in such an elective chart, because this planet symbolizes the constancy and longevity of the union. For Saturn, you need to have favorable aspects with the Moon, Venus or the ruler of the seventh house. Saturn retrograde is not a hindrance, but it needs to be kept out of the seventh house, otherwise marriage will eventually become burdensome, based on duty rather than love and respect.
We have Saturn sextile with the Moon (at the end of the day, at 23:00) and Venus (during the day). This is the most favorable thing that can be in this moment. A very good support factor.

It is also important that Mars, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are not in the seventh house on the wedding day. Especially Uranus, as it is associated with divorce. Uranus should also not make hard aspects with the seventh house ruler, the seventh house planet Venus.
In our case, the seventh house is empty for almost the entire day. Only in the evening the planets begin to converge there one by one. Uranus only squares the Sun.

The ruler of the ascendant should also not have an unfavorable aspect to the ruler of the seventh house. A positive aspect is desirable but not required. Ideally, the ascendant is better placed in favorable signs and houses, avoiding their defeat by other planets, especially harmful ones. The ascendant should not approach the border of signs, otherwise it will mean that the event is deprived of effectiveness due to its prematureness (0 ° - 3 °) or belatedness (27 ° - 30 °). It is recommended to avoid the Ascendant at 24° - 28° Taurus if possible, as it is a conjunction with the fixed star Algol. We are like that different facts we usually don’t take into account other stars in our lessons, but this moment can simply be considered as informative and in the future it will be analyzed in more detail.

Other favorable factors for choosing the date and time of the wedding: good aspects of the Sun-Moon, Mars-Venus, the Moon and the rulers of the signs, where the cusps of the fourth and tenth houses are located (the tenth house symbolizes success, and the fourth is associated with the end of the matter).

Of course, if you take into account all the favorable factors, then finding the perfect day and time for marriage is very, very problematic. But, as we see from the example, very good days still exist. And when choosing a date, you have to compromise and choose the best of what you can choose from.

And now homework.
Take one already known date and analyze it. And then pick a date for some conditions.

Ptolemy, in the fifth Aphorism of his Hundred Sayings, says: "The wise can avoid many of the consequences that the stars promise, provided that he knows their nature and knows how to prepare for their coming."

Claude Dario in his "Treatise on Elections for the Beginning of All Business" writes: so, I will say that at the beginning of any business one should look and make sure that the sky is favorable for this enterprise, since not every hour of the day is suitable or facilitates the beginning of any business. But on the contrary, one hour will correspond and satisfy the beginning of one thing, and another hour - another thing.

The classic techniques of elective astrology include: lunar phases, the Moon without a course, the first converging aspect of the Moon, the signs of the Moon, Mercury retrograde, the Star of Magi - planetary clocks, fixed stars, aphetica - tables of strength and weakness of the planets. Horary astrology and its closest relative, elective astrology, are the most ancient of the astrological methods used.

The main goal of elective astrology is to enable a person to choose the right time (day and hour) from what exists in Heaven in accordance with the Earthly circumstances of his plans and aspirations, which could be realized as efficiently as possible, as far as it is generally real. The possibilities of this promising direction in modern world are wide, so elective "horoscopes of events" can be used in various spheres of life, thus elective astrology allows you to choose the optimal time to change the situation at your own discretion, this is a very important and fundamentally significant moment of this art. The free will of a person in this section of Astrology comes to the fore.

Learn to choose the right time and place

Elective astrology is used to select the most appropriate time to start something. The aim is to achieve a successful outcome, and the rules of thumb specifically address this.

Horary astrology is the art of answering questions by analyzing a chart drawn at a specific moment in the question. Unlike horary astrology, which answers after the fact, elective astrology approaches the question in advance and "chooses" the right time to achieve the desired result. An elective map is drawn up for a place where an event will occur at a certain time in the future.

Election of events

Election is the result of choosing a certain date and time for the creation (conception, planting) of certain events. An elective horoscope gives a person a unique opportunity to consciously control events, through the search for the most favorable time for any event.

With a person, everything is more or less clear, take the date and look at the map (circle) and at the horoscope indicators, house connections in tables and other information. But how, for example, to stage (election-forecast) a successful entry into a business or a deal, or any other necessary event, so that it goes well?

To begin with, you must decide on the dates, which dates of the week are convenient for you (discard non-working days and holidays), you could use it, and you also need to aim, approximately at what time, it would be convenient for you (to conclude a deal-agreement, or electronically register on the site - to enter a business, submit a document or stamp, etc.).

After that, look at the interpretations:

What indicators show, if you didn’t like them, or there are no indicators that you expected, then you need to analyze another time (twist every 4 minutes), if you didn’t find anything, then work another day.

ELECTIVE ASTROLOGY (from Latin electio - “choice”), ASTROLOGY OF CHOICE, ASTROLOGY OF HOURS OF CHOICE, KATHARCHEN-ASTROLOGY (from Greek katarchein - “to start, show the way”) - a section of astrology that uses methods to determine the right time to start any conceived project or to make an effort in a matter that needs to be resolved, whether it be a wedding, a trip, a lawsuit, the start of construction, a change in profession, a significant purchase, a move, etc.
It goes back to chronomancy and calendar astrology. It is believed that this card determines the course of the event throughout the entire time of its implementation.
Frederik van Norstrand gives the following rules of katarchen astrology:
  • It is necessary to carefully study the natal chart of the person for whom the forecast is being made.

    • 1.5. Rencier's rules for working with houses in elective astrology
    INTRODUCTION

As far as I know, there is not much literature on the subject of elective astrology in Russia. There are also no contemporary books in the United States that I could recommend to you. The main sources I use are from the 17th century and even earlier. These sources are my working textbooks. They do not affect the theory of elective astrology at all, but they give a lot of methods, approaches to a particular subject.

I would like to give you a more or less accessible explanation of such techniques. I also have a lot of examples in store, many different horoscopes that will demonstrate how the rules of medieval astrologers work today.

Before I start working on the astrology of choice, I need to say a few words about the introduction to classical astrology, and explain to you some of the vocabulary that belongs to this area.

    1. THEORETICAL PART 1.1. Table of essential virtues

Modern astrology limits itself to ruler and exaltation. In classical medieval astrology, five essential virtues were used: government, exaltation, trischites, terms and fasses. A similar table was used by William Lilly. He used these virtues in the 17th century to work with horary astrology. This is a kind of simplified version of his tables, because in medieval astrology, which in turn goes back to Greek sources, three triplicity rulers were used. The two current rulers are day and night. There was also a triplicity, which was translated into English as "mixed" or "participating". Lilly discovered that this triplicity does not work in horary astrology. I, in turn, experimented with this parameter and agreed with Lilly.

Let's see how this table works. Suppose you have the Sun in the sign of Cancer, say, at 17 degrees. 16 "Cancer. Under this system, we do not round the number, but simply exclude minutes.

The first column after the sign indicated in the table is the ruler. Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Exaltation is Jupiter. Lilly gives Mars as triplicity ruler for both day and night births. This is the only thing I don't think I agree with him, since all other authors give Venus as the daytime triplicity ruler and Mars as the nighttime one. So far, all rulers have been related to the whole sign. But when we turn to the table of terms, the situation becomes somewhat more complicated. In this case, we need to look at the degrees of the Sign and determine where the value you need falls. Seventeen is between thirteen and twenty. So, in search of the necessary information, you look at the gap in which the desired falls. Perhaps it will become a little clearer to you what is happening if you mentally imagine the beginning of this term table as zero. Therefore, looking at this section of the table, we see that seventeen is between thirteen and twenty. Thus, this number falls into the term of Mercury. In the fasses we also have three sections, very similar to the deans. However, they differ significantly, for example for Aries. For this Sign, the rulers of the decanates will be Mars, the Sun, Jupiter. And in the faces we see Mars, the Sun, Venus. There are two definite patterns in the fass table. This is more clear in the middle column. From top to bottom go the rulers of the days of the week: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. As you know, in European languages, in English, in particular, the names of the days of the week correspond exactly to the planetary names. Thus, this table of fasses takes into account the days of the week. This can be seen in all columns if we start counting from the Sun, that is, from Sunday.

The planets are also in series. This is the sequence of planets in the geocentric system. Planets start from the slowest in terms of average speed to the fastest. For example, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury. And each of these five basic virtues has a different interpretation from the others. We will touch on interpretation when we discuss horoscopes. But in general, I can say that this difference is more manifested in catalytic astrology than in horary.

Each of these five virtues has a numerical coefficient. The Sun, as a ruler, had a coefficient of +5, exaltation +4, triplicity - +3, term - +2, face - +1. And for two weak positions - expulsions and falls - the numerical designations are -5 and -4, respectively. This kind of numerical weighting was used to calculate the point, which was called almuten. Almuten is an Arabic word for which planet has the most weight in a certain degree.

Consider the example of the Ascendant at 16 degrees. Libra in daytime degrees.

Daytime and nighttime were clearly separated in classical astrology: if the Sun is above the horizon, then this is a daytime birth, if below the horizon, a nighttime birth. So let's take a daily horoscope, a daily birth. We are faced with the task of calculating the merits for this degree. Venus is the ruler of the Libra sign. She has +5. Saturn in exaltation. He has +4. Next comes the triplicity. We see that the ruler of the triplicity is different depending on whether it is a day card or a night card. Triplicity depends on the element. For the air element, Saturn is the daily ruler of the triplicity. Saturn gets +3 in this case. 16 deg. Libra is in the term of Jupiter. Jupiter gets +2. And in the second column we see that Saturn is the equalizer of fass. Saturn gets +1. Summing everything up, we see that Venus has a numerical coefficient of dignity +5, and Saturn has 8. Thus, Saturn is the almuten of this degree of Libra. This is very significant for the following reasons: you have the choice of whether to use the sign lord or the almuten for any cusp. Unfortunately, the ancient astrologers left us no guidance as to when to choose one or the other.

In horary astrology, it is very important that only one significator represents the house. The problem with horary astrology is that if you allow more than one significator for a house, you are likely to get a conflicting answer. This, as you understand, is the last thing you can wish for when working with a horary chart. Therefore, when I started working with Almutens, I realized that I should learn to choose what to use. Based on the horary horoscopes that I have worked with, I have built the following rule: it is best to choose between the lord of the sign and the lord of the almuten, based on which of them has the most merit. The only exception to this rule would be if the person you are working with cannot be associated with the planet with great dignity.

To make it clearer, I will give an example. If a person who has recently been fired asks a question about a possible job, it is quite obvious that he is in a weak position. If this person has spent the past two years caring for a parent who has recently died, you may feel that the client cannot be associated with the planet in its most powerful position.

If the rank of the almuten and the sign lord are the same, I choose which one to use according to which one best describes my client. And the whole set of traditional ideas, such as Saturn representing an older person, or Mercury representing a technical worker, and so on, is taken into account.

    1.2. Classification of signs

Before we do the elective work, I want to give you a classification of signs by type.

Human Signs: Gemini, Virgo, Libra and Aquarius. They are also called courtly signs, which characterizes their meaning very well. Significators in these signs are mainly related to the social context. There are several more specific cases when ?human? signs. These are situations where you are trying to achieve what you want with the help of other people.

Animal signs or signs on four legs: Aries, Taurus, Leo, Sagittarius and Capricorn. Animal signs have more pronounced sexual desires than others. They also very often act impulsively rather than rationally. Animal signs act instinctively without considering the best strategy. Human signs can stop and reflect on the outcome of a certain scenario, as well as think about the way to achieve the desired goal. Animal signs, on the other hand, will rush forward along a straight road, headlong.

On the other hand, we can simply say that human signs are signs of the thinking type, and animals are instinctive signs. We never know what to do with a Sagittarius for the obvious reason: a centaur is a mixture of man and animal. One solution was to try to split Sagittarius into two halves and say that one half of Sagittarius would go to the human signs and the other to the animals. I use this idea with great restrictions. There are also, as it were, extreme points of animal signs: Leo and the last part of Sagittarius. All signs on four legs are animals by nature, but these wild areas are in a difficult position. They are really wild, especially if the ascendant falls into these signs. The first word that comes to mind when describing people who act under the influence of these areas is atavism. That is, these signs are the extreme forms of manifestation of animals. And here we are faced with this idea of dividing Sagittarius into two halves. I use the word half ambivalently, because in different sources this division was presented in different ways, not always by fifteen degrees. My guess is that this division was trying to reflect how dominant the human half is. This can be useful when you are doing an elective horoscope and you want the other half to act irrationally.

Now let's talk about changeable signs(Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces - these signs are also called soft-spoken). You use silent signs, changeable signs, when you need to keep something secret. There are two main principles of keeping the result secret used in elective astrology. This is the use of changeable signs or a burnt significator. Burn is considered a weakness, and in fact, thus, you have a choice whether you want the significator to be weak or not. If you want the result to be weak and secret, then you use a burnt significator, but if you would like the potential signifier to be strong, but still secret, then you may prefer to use changeable signs.

There is another classification of signs

Fertile signs. Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces. The large inclusion of these signs in the question of pregnancy gives an affirmative answer. The old lists do not include Taurus in this category. I include because I see again and again how it brings positive results in all matters relating to pregnancy.

Barren signs- Gemini, Leo and Virgo. The emphasis on these signs in matters of pregnancy gives a negative answer.

The most obvious use of these qualitative characteristics is in questions about pregnancy. But, however, the same qualities can be applied to ideas. Therefore, if you have a project that you want to bring to completion, in cases where the implementation of this project will require a lot of creative energy, you will need to use fertile signs.

    1.3. Definition of time

I would like to remind you what you actually do in elective astrology. Someone calls you or sends you an e-mail and says that he needs to do something. And asks to choose the best time for this action.

We will go through with you a lot of rules according to which one can answer such a question, but perhaps the greatest difficulty that people experience in elective work is the internal vision of how this problem should be solved at all. I bring to your attention three principles that we will use in elective work. In the course of a telephone conversation or in the process of writing a letter to your client, you will need to be able to choose which of these methods you will use. In almost all cases, you should ask clients when they can do what they want to do. I mean deadlines.

For example, a person is about to undergo surgery. Perhaps these operations are performed only on certain days of the week, and perhaps the start time of the operation is fixed. If the client needs to obtain a business license, he can do so only during the opening hours of the bureau that issues the licenses.

If you do not have such information, you will have to clarify it for yourself. As I already mentioned, if you open a business, such as a repair shop, then such a business usually has normal working hours. For example, these little kiosks downstairs in the hotel lobby are open from nine in the morning until nine in the evening. If you work with the owner of one of these stalls, you can't ask him to start work at 3:00 in the morning. So, working hours is one of the factors to consider.

Another factor is the timing of your searches. I think most of you will not be very happy if your client says he wants to start his own business in the near future, and most of you know that Merurius is retrograde right now. Especially if this new business enters the area ruled by Mercury. Therefore, you ask yourself an internal question: I wonder if this case can wait a few weeks? But imagine that the person replies: I must start before a specific date. In this situation, I really don't want to have Mercury retrograde, and I will be asking my client again: Are you sure you can't wait three weeks? But if the answer is "no, I really can't," then you are forced to work within the time frame the client suggests.

Let's say the client tells you that the time should include both normal business hours and the time span from today to October 15th. Then the first thing you need to do is open your ephemeris and try to imagine what is going on at that time.

So, I'm looking at the ephemeris for this month now, and I'm already in this loop that Mercury retrograde describes, but what will I have to choose from for the next two weeks? Of course, I have many different signs in which the Moon can be, and all those planets with which the Moon will make converging aspects. I also see Venus moving into Libra on October 15th, so I have a sign reversal for one of the planets. This gives me even more choice when it comes to my system. Venus in Virgo is in its fall. Venus in Libra is in its own sign. So we have a choice between a very difficult Venus and a very pleasant, good Venus. Does this mean that we will definitely choose October 15? Not necessarily, because I then look at the Moon sign. The Moon also moves from Virgo to Libra on this day. This is a very old moon, the new moon will be the next day. So now I have to decide which factors are most important here. I also have to consider that Venus is trine with Mars today. Tomorrow they will still be in the exact aspect. This means that they are in the same degree. Since this is a precise aspect, I can use it. Now I ask myself the question: do I want Venus and Mars to be in a trine? Or I will wait until Venus enters Libra, but, accordingly, will no longer be in a trine with Mars. Mars moves into Aquarius before Venus begins to square it.

Now I'm looking at the moon signs. Today and tomorrow the Moon is in Pisces and Aries, so I will have to ask myself the question: do I need such a Moon? And also I have to take into account the fact that today is the day that Mercury goes retrograde.

It is almost unbelievable that you will have planetary positions in the places you need. In all cases where the card is not perfect, your job is to choose the best option.

As I frantically flip through the ephemeris, I recall a quote from one of America's finest elective astrologers. Joan Quigley was President Reagan's astrologer. I had the opportunity to meet Joan, she explained to me what she could and could not do for her client. Obviously, it was not she who made the decision about what would be done and what would not be. She had some control over the duration of the action. And even given that she could choose the time in some cases, usually she was given a segment of two hours. These are incredibly difficult working conditions for an astrologer. What did Joan do? She used the Wheel of Fortune very much in her work.

Think about it: she usually had a gap of two hours. What indicators can significantly change over this period of time? House cusps only. The point of Fortune is counted from the ascendant - this is the projection of the ascendant. The moon is also included in the calculation of this point. This point is moving a little faster than the ascendant. It was the only real indicator she could work with.

Let's look at what our limitations are in order to build an elective map. Whenever you need a precise time to do something, you are, by definition, working within limited time slots. Perhaps this will mean that you can set the time for a certain hour, for a certain half hour, or even for 15 minutes. Or you generally have a time period of a couple of hours and the like. Often the best thing you can do is just ask the client what hours you have assigned to work. And choose the best of those alternatives, 6 of which your client says. I use this model for things like surgery, because astrology is not considered in American medicine.

When working with an elective chart, it is necessary to take into account and use the transit positions of the planets. What are you trying to do with transits? You can try to install the picture that will be as similar as possible to what you want. For example, someone is going to open a restaurant. The two best moon signs that come to my mind for this are Taurus, or Cancer. Therefore, I want the Moon to fall in these signs, and this will be my model. The card I end up with should look like a happy, hungry customer.

It is also important to use the exact transit configurations of the aspects. You may notice that some astrological configuration is being formed that emphasizes some particularly highlighted component in the client's natal chart. Then you will want to capture this configuration. Then you look at the ephemeris from this point of view.

I will give one example of such a case. Recently, a person called me. He wanted to buy a car. He let me know that all the cars he had before accurately reflected his relationship with women. I also knew that he had just completed an unsuccessful divorce suit.

So, I said to him: you probably do not want the car to look like your former wife?

He replied: I don't want to at all!

Then I asked: well, how new do you see yourself? How do you see yourself?

He told me that his old wife was like his sports car, and he said quite clearly that he now needed a greater degree of responsibility.

And I started looking at the ephemerides. He wanted to buy a new car that same month. I thought: Mars will be in Capricorn. And since he talks about the car as the personification of his sexual desires, Mars will mean a little more in this horoscope than is customary. Mars in Capricorn is exalted anyway, but Capricorn is also the sign of Saturn. Thus, this position may well represent a new more responsible person. And reflecting on this, I was lucky to look into his catalytic horoscope. I noticed that he has a catalytic Mars in Capricorn, and his catalytic Venus is in Taurus. Noticing that transiting Venus was about to move into Libra, I was able to choose a time that, just like in his natal chart, Venus and Mars would be strong. Since Venus and Mars are relationship planets, I realized that if I succeeded in making the rest of the horoscope work, I would have one very lucky person. Therefore, I relied in this work on this combination. I already paid attention to the period when Venus and Mars were in the signs in which I wanted to see them. I have already chosen the rest of the horoscope for more traditional elective reasons. But in fact, everything else was already an echo or reflected the fundamental configuration that I chose, and which correlated with the client's catal horoscope.

Often this opportunity is used in cases of elective work for marriage, because you always want to see a good relationship between spouses.

All this reminds me that there are other classifications of elective cards. There are classifications in which we divide questions into general and special.

    1.4. General and private questions

General questions, that is, elective work of a general nature, is done independently of the catalog horoscopes. All components of the elective horoscope should describe the situation in astrological language rather eloquently.

Specific questions take into account natal horoscopes. But even a specific elective question must somehow work as a general one. In other words, what is the difference between these two cases? In specific questions, you can put some exact degree on the ascendant, for example, so that it correlates with the Sun or Moon of the client. A general elective question of the same nature involves choosing from a certain range of degrees for the ascendant, which may not correspond at all to the degree that you have chosen based on the person's natal chart. However, you should be able to explain why you chose that particular ascendant, based on the general elective rules.

Imagine you are starting a new business. If the owner of this business is a specific person, then you may want to set the exact angles. Usually business always involves the tenth house cusp. You may want to have the angles of the horoscope correlated with some factor in the owner's natal horoscope. For example, you understand that you have a choice: to put 1C between 5 deg. and 10 deg. Capricorn and at this time no other elements of the chart change signs. In general elective work, you can stop at this stage by telling your clients what time period corresponds to this provision 1C - from 5 degrees. up to 15 deg. Capricorn. But if your business is owned by a person whose Fortune rolling point falls on 17 degrees. Virgo, then you will want this point to be in aspect and you will stop at 17 degrees. Capricorn. Even despite the fact that it is a little beyond the limits that you have set for yourself. If you don't want to go beyond 5 to 15 Capricorn, you will then settle for the time that corresponds to 15 degrees so that the aspect is as accurate as possible.

The question immediately arises, in what cases do you have to use general elective questions? There are two main reasons why this is necessary: for example, the time of birth of one of the owners is not known, or if too many different people are involved in the case and it does not make sense for you to correlate the horary horoscope with a particular person's catalytic chart.

1.5. Rencier's rules for working with houses in elective astrology

I want to tell you about Rencier's rules for elective work. His rules for elective horoscopes are centered around the houses, and I will introduce you to the basics of his statements, and, of course, comment on them.

    First house

The two areas that Rencier mentioned when talking about the first house correspond either to various childhood themes or to issues such as haircuts, manicures, and so on. Currently, I don't know of a single person who would choose the time for a manicure, but we will talk about the time for a haircut. While I'm not entirely sure you'll follow this, these rules will help you understand some ideas that you can apply to other situations.

In classical astrology, each house has wide range manifestations. The same applies to elective astrology. Some ideas from medieval texts seem archaic to us. But, having got acquainted with them more deeply, having understood their essence, it is possible to understand how these rules work in the modern world.

So, as for the children. The two main things that can be attributed to elective work are:

  • - firstly, the process of weaning the baby from the breast,
  • Second, the start of school.
  • I don't think anyone would use the rules to stop breastfeeding. But we will talk about these rules because they will give you some idea of how children are treated in elective astrology. You can apply these rules in matters relating to childhood. Most simply, this method can be described as follows: - the Moon and Venus should be strengthened.

Now about the start of school. In these cases, we are interested in the Moon and Mercury. I think we immediately understand why Mercury is important. The moon describes the general view of children and childhood. We will now call this the most instinctive period of human development. I'm interested in the analogies that can be drawn in this case. Analogies with some psychological ideas are a certain decline in childhood development, and especially cognitive development, described by Mercury.

So, the main idea for elective first house charts is to strengthen either the Moon, and then either Mercury or Venus, depending on which phase of development we are talking about.

Haircut rules. When it comes to timing your haircut, the main question you ask yourself is whether you want your hair to grow back quickly after a haircut or not. If you want your hair to grow fast then you are looking for a fertile sign, if you want your hair not to grow too fast then you are looking for an infertile sign.

Rencier also spoke of cutting the horns. It is clear from Rencier's description that he did not care for the horns. His concept of removing the horns was similar to those when it came to cutting hair. This rule gives us a general indication that when you want to get rid of something and don't want it to grow back quickly, you can use barren signs.

And this can apply to plant life as well as to animals and humans.

I noticed that we often attach more importance to the lunar phases than they deserve. Average astrological expectations in elective astrology are sometimes exaggerated when it comes to lunar phases. However, the phases of the moon are often used in agricultural elective matters, and very often in relation to animals. But in other cases it is necessary to limit their value.

I'll give you an example. Imagine the Moon in Cancer or Taurus. In our understanding, both of these positions are very good and happy positions for the Moon. For half a year it will be a waxing moon and half a year - a waning one. And here we face the question: which characteristic is the most important: the sign or the phase? There are specific elective questions that are related to the phase of the moon by phase, but there are quite a few of them.

    Second house

The affairs of the second house are a little more, since the second house is associated with all monetary matters. It describes all matters relating to receiving money or lending money.

The issue of getting money, I would call the issue of payment. In reviewing Rencier's rules, I realized that what he was most concerned about was the ability to hide a transaction when receiving or lending money. His concern may seem somewhat strange. I would be more concerned if I borrow money - whether I get it back. His concern simply described the specific historical conditions in which wealth was determined by family holdings, and not at all calculated in cash. In such a situation, the presence of cash could be discouraging. As for the rules of secrecy, his idea is as follows: borrowing money must be made at the moment when the Moon is under the rays of the Sun, when it is in an orbit from 8 degrees. up to 17 deg. degrees from the exact connection.

So, under the rays of the Sun, the Moon is considered to be at a distance of 8 degrees. up to 17 deg. degrees from the sun. Burning from half a degree to eight degrees. Staying in both the burnt position and under the rays of the Sun were considered weak positions for the Moon, but the burnt position is a weaker position. Astronomically, the difference between these two positions is that all planets become invisible when they are close to the burn zone. The brightest planets, such as Venus, can be seen when they are under the rays. The smallest planets, such as Mercury, cannot be seen in this position. Thus, the burned position is absolute invisibility, and in the position under the rays, some planets are visible and some are not. This distinction was made as early as the Babylonian period.

A couple more rules about borrowing. If the moon is between 15 degrees. Libra and 15 degrees. Scorpio, in conjunction with the ascendant, or the first few degrees of Gemini, Leo or Sagittarius, then the lender may not get his money back. And it is also recommended not to borrow anything during the hours of Saturn.

Rules for buying and selling. These rules are the ancient rules of borrowing. Whether it is buying or selling, no matter how big or small the sale is, you need to strengthen Mercury, the Moon and the eleventh house. The eleventh house is considered very important whenever you want to get the desired result. One of the worst positions for Mercury is its aspect to Mars. I mean all the Ptolemaic aspects.

Conjunctions, sextile and trine with Venus for Mercury were considered a good base. There are four ideal signs for the Moon (in cases where you are in the business of buying and selling): Taurus, Cancer, Virgo and Pisces. You need the Moon to be in diverging aspect with benefic planets like Venus or Jupiter. And in a converging sextile or trine to Mars or Saturn. The idea of a diverging aspect with Venus or Jupiter and a converging aspect with Mars and Saturn is the model of the second house.

Another approach that can help buying and selling is to strengthen the Wheel of Fortune and Jupiter. And again, we must emphasize - you need to try to keep the Moon and Mercury away from Mars. You will notice that in the model for sale that we have just analyzed, Rencier excluded aspects with malefic planets.

Rencier's next point - purchase or investment. At a time when the world was dominated by the aristocracy, the investments in question were very costly.

Exclamation from the hall: investment in clothing.

Buying outfits and costumes at that time - apparently, was really very expensive, so we can conclude that in fact we are talking about investing money. The basic rule for this is to put the ascendant and the Moon in cardinal signs.

Another case is moving to another place. In this case, we are not talking about moving to a permanent place of residence. Moreover, the rule applies to travel for financial or business reasons. Therefore, we are considering temporary relocation. The ideal horoscope for this is the strengthening of the ascendant and the moon, as well as the second house. When we talk about building a home, we have two options to do so. You can choose to sextile or trine Venus or Jupiter to the cusp of the second house, or to its ruler. These planets can be rulers of the house. Rencier also fortified part of Fortuna. It would also be nice to have Jupiter in the second house.

A few unexpected cases of the second house are distillation or alchemy. I believe that the medieval concept of alchemy is not well used today. We can call any magical transformation alchemy. One of the most simple ways calling her is advertising. I noticed how many billboards there are in Moscow when I was driving from the airport to the hotel. And of course we know what all these billboards are telling us. They try to improve the attractiveness of an object. It's either alchemy or Neptune. Rencier's rules give you some idea how to modern life you can use alchemy. The rules of alchemy are:

  • - Put the Moon in a mutable sign;
  • - to prevent its aspecting from malefic planets;
  • - put a mutable sign on the corners.
  • You choose a planet for the item you wish to magically transmute and fortify that planet. Therefore, if you really want the process to take place, for example, if you want to turn lead into gold (and Saturn is lead) - in this way you must strengthen Saturn.

    third house

We have three main areas associated with the third house:

  • short travel,
  • friendship with brothers, sisters or relatives, as well as education.
  • The name "short trip" has a specific meaning. In Lilly's time, a short trip was called overland travel. Either overland or within the area you are in. It covers those places that you can reach on foot or along the nearest rivers and canals. These are places inside the country, inside the place where you live.

In countries as large as ours and yours, we are in a position where crossing a country by car will take us more time than flying around. the globe by plane (meaning the USA and Russia). This does not allow us to determine the journey through the third or ninth house. Therefore, I think that a short trip means a place that is familiar to you. It is this characteristic of the place that confirms the involvement of the third house.

Most people who order an elective travel horoscope do so for one of two reasons. Or they are going to a place that they really want to go to, but about which they have some doubts; Or they have a fear of flying.

Depending on why you are asked a question, you turn to the appropriate house. The first category also includes simply the fear of visiting this or that place, some kind of anxiety about this place, and not just the excitement of anticipating a trip. And then, depending on which of these two categories the question falls under, you will use a different philosophy to build an elective horoscope.

Why are there questions about familiar places? In cases where the purpose of travel is a business trip or a monetary reason. In this case, we explore the third and ninth houses together, knowing that we will still make some difference between them. Whenever in these cases, we must know the reason for the trip. If this is a business trip, you will need to make sure that there is a connection between the third and ninth houses in the chart, and the tenth house should also be visible. For example: something like the ruler of the ninth house in the tenth will be a very good indicator.

If your client is nervous or afraid of air travel, you will need to ask them a few questions. Some people can't stand air turbulence. When they get into turbulence, they just get sick on the plane. And in these cases, you need to choose the most calm conditions. You will achieve this by keeping malefic planets out of the corners and away from the ninth house. If a person is afraid of death, afraid of dying while traveling, for example, a person is afraid of a plane crash, in this case you must be convinced that there is no connection between the first and eighth houses, and there is no connection between the Moon and the eighth house. If the trip is for educational purposes, then all you have to do is strengthen the ninth or third house. The moon should also be strengthened. The moon in elective astrology, as well as in horary, is a very important factor. We can say that there are only a few exceptions to the elective rules, when the strengthening of the Moon does not significantly improve the horoscope. In all other cases, the strengthening of the Moon will always be beneficial.

Let's return to the second type of third house affairs. It seems that during Rencier's time there was a lot of animosity between siblings. Imagine, basically his rules are about how to teach people to be more tolerant of each other. Basically, these rules refer to the creation of a mutual reception between the significators of two houses.

There is one fundamental difference between Rencier's approach and the one we would use today. This difference lies in the fact that at the time of Rencier were very common large families. And so Rencier tried to use different planets for the younger and for the older brothers of the person he was considering. And if you try to catch the subtext, read between the lines, it was about the right to inherit, about birthright. In their society, the older brother really had a lot of power over you. In this case, Saturn personified the elder brother. If the brother was older than you, but not the eldest in the family, or you were about the same age, then Mars was used to designate this person. And Mercury was used to designate the younger brothers.

I would take advantage of the idea and put the significators of the parties in mutual reception. And I would apply this reception in accordance with those houses that seem important to me in this case. If, for example, we are really talking about a brother or sister, I would look for a mutual reception between the first house and the third. I don't think we should worry too much about Saturn's relationship with Mercury or Mars, because age doesn't play a decisive role in our society.

Generalizing the idea of mutual reception, we can conclude that we can use this model to obtain an agreement between any two parties, regardless of kinship. The main thing is to choose the right houses that describe the relationship between the client and the person of interest.

If you cannot find a horoscope where the planets are in mutual reception, then you need to make sure that the planets representing the other side are aspecting Venus. Because it can be assumed that since you were asked to do this kind of elective work, then the person who asks you for this wants to achieve an alliance.

You may be surprised to see that the section of learning (studying or contemplating divine things) falls in the third rather than the ninth house. In fact, everything related to the ninth house refers to religious matters. We can see some traces of this interaction in the Hellenistic period. One of the Greek names for the third house is Tea. The ninth house is Theos. Tea is the name of a goddess and Theos is the name of a god. The modern understanding of this concept was proposed several years ago by Robert Hand. He remarked that in Greek society you could replace a great goddess with many gods in a dispute about who was the chief of the deities. The ninth house thus becomes the most common house referring to religion in a certain society, while the relation of the third house to religion will be: it will describe either a minority religion, or a religion that is suppressed in a certain cultural context, which is underground. For example, for the United States, Christianity would be in the ninth house and Buddhism in the third. Buddhism will be personified by the third house, not because it is under repression, but because it is not so common. Judaism is not the religion of the majority in the United States, but despite this, since there are many very influential people among those who practice Judaism, it can be called the religion of the ninth house. Thus, within a certain country, a certain culture, it is easier to see what is in the third, what is in the ninth. In different societies, different religions will dominate, and we will distribute the ninth and third houses differently. Basically, the same rules apply for both the third and ninth houses, once you decide for yourself whether you are dealing with religion in the third or in the ninth house. If you begin third house divine training, you strengthen the moon, you strengthen the ascendant, and you strengthen the third house. And it is generally considered good if Jupiter is also involved in some way, because Jupiter is traditionally the best planet for religious activities. So, it is perfectly reasonable for you to aim to put Jupiter in the third house. This could mean you put the ascendant in Sagittarius or it could mean you put the Moon in Sagittarius.

    fourth house

The largest area of fourth house affairs relates to what we might call "real estate". Buildings, land and cities all fall under the affairs of the fourth house. Buildings as such are described by the fourth house, whether built for residential or business purposes. The elective rules are somewhat different, depending on whether we are dealing with business buildings or residential buildings. In general, they are similar, but there are differences.

In fact, the rule common to all matters relating to the ownership of land and matters related to real estate is the strengthening of the fourth house. In the process of strengthening it, you must take care that no malefic planets interfere. Malefic planets are not only Mars and Saturn, but also the South Node. Based on my own experience, I would also include Uranus, Neptune, Pluto in this category, as they are endowed with a very specific, special meaning. They can bring you a lot of problems in terms of land and real estate. Uranus brings problems with electricity, Neptune brings problems with water supply and in general all water problems. Usually Neptune means excess water, and is associated with such troubles as: leaks, floods, faulty pipes, and so on. Sometimes I saw Neptune representing the lack of water. This is especially the case when the land in question is used for agriculture. For example, in those cases when a person is waiting for the harvest, and he needs rain. Thus, Neptune in the fourth house can represent either excess moisture or drought.

Neptune in the fourth house in real estate buying horoscopes will mean more trouble than otherwise. Obviously, in each particular zone there is an average level of precipitation for the year, and we, of course, cannot expect that any particular cloud will rise above our building and water it without dropping a drop on the neighbor's house. What can personify Neptune in this kind of situation? He will not talk about radical changes in the general climate. He will speak in a slightly different and indirect way about water problems, for example, it will be problems in the sewer system or something like that.

Exclamation from the hall: drainage in wetlands

Interpreter: well, they don’t build in wetlands ...

Exclamation from the hall: And how!

Interpreter: ... or if they build, then all together. That is, you will have more problems with the absorption of water into the soil than your neighbor.

I don't want to forget Pluto. Because Pluto is its own problems. Pluto's problem is all sorts of destruction, such as rust, corrosion, and just decay. These can range from non-organic problems to problems caused by pests, termites, bugs, rats, mice, and so on.

It is important to remember that the South Node can be especially destructive in this situation.

The rules for buying and selling property are quite simple. They are very similar to the rules that we refer to buying and selling in general. Before you start buying, I think you need to start with the building in question.

What are the main questions about buildings that we can find in Rencier? First of all, he is concerned about how durable this building is, how long it will last, and whether it will last at all. Therefore, he is concerned about the position of Saturn. Because it is on Saturn that you will pay attention if you are interested in something regarding reliability. He also stressed that the Wheel of Fortune should be used. Most of the buildings that are being built in our modern society are not meant to last forever. If you build a castle in the 16th century, you will expect this castle to survive to this day. But I do not think that at least one of you has such tasks, and someone approaches with such requirements to modern building. I mention this specifically so that you always think about how fixed Saturn should be.

Another factor they considered for a conventional structure was that they used fixed signs. It is obvious. Whenever you speak of fixed signs, you are referring to permanence and longevity. They also made sure that the Moon fell into strong signs. And it is obvious that if we try to connect these two points, then Taurus will be the sign that we prefer. As we have already mentioned, you need to pay attention to Saturn, some emphasis on Saturn is desirable. Rencier was aware that Saturn at the corners could mean unexpected delays in the construction process. Rencier gave precise rules for the construction of different types of buildings, depending on what they serve.

For example, in separate category he singled out the construction of temples and churches. In this case, he sought to put the Moon in Sagittarius or in Pisces. If you are building a mill, then the Moon must be in Virgo, because it is about grinding bread, grain into flour.

He also gave rules for demolishing houses. There is nothing surprising here. Destruction is the other side of construction. For destruction, he placed the Moon on the ascendant in a fire sign, which gave me the idea that fire was the most common way to destroy buildings. In this case, he emphasized that the moon should be waning, he wanted the moon to fall into falling houses - all those indicators that we characterize a weak moon. He preferred the Moon in aspect to weak planets or weakened planets. And, if your Moon did not fall into a fiery sign, then he offered Scorpio or Capricorn. This model can be used for all cases when elective questions concern the destruction of something. For any type of destruction, you simply take the rules that apply to a creative situation and turn them inside out.

We can generalize the rules of sale and purchase, and use them in other cases. For example, you take the first and seventh houses and assign them to the buyer and seller. Which one is the buyer, which one is the seller? This largely depends on the specific case for which you are building the map. This is directly related to the definition of the first house in this classification. By definition, the first house represents an event, whatever it may be. And expanding this concept, we understand that the ruler of the first house will personify the person who is interested in this event.

Let's say you're working on an ad for a product that needs to be sold. And the seller controls the moment of the announcement, the moment of publication of this advertisement. So far, there are no buyers. In a case like this, the seller will be personified as the first house. If we expand this rule, then the buyer or potential buyer will be personified as the ruler of the seventh house. Therefore, when it comes to selling, you will need the lord of the first house and the lord of the seventh house to be in converging aspect. And you will prefer this aspect to be a conjunction, a trine, or a sextile. You absolutely do not need opposition. The square is also problematic. As far as real estate is concerned, the fourth house will still represent real estate as such, and the first and seventh are the two sides of the sale, as in all situations of sale. In this case, the tenth house will also represent this event.

There are two ways to determine the price: you can look at the aspect between the lord of the first house and the lord of the tenth house. Or you can do something like this. It happens that you have the same planet will rule the first and tenth. For example, Virgo is on the cusp of the first, and Gemini is not on the cusp of the tenth. In this case, Mercury, as the ruler of both signs, governs both houses. If one side controls the price and you know who the ascendant is, then you will know who the price is in favor of.

Rencier also used the fourth house to renovate the property. For example, changing the sewer system, pipeline. We can apply these rules more generally to any similar type of case. Not surprisingly, when dealing with water, he needed the ascendant and the ruler of the ascendant to fall into water signs. And you can use the analogy, just think in a similar way in any situation that does not deal with water, but with something else. You may need to change the wiring or something like that. He also emphasized that the Moon did not need to conjunct Saturn, and he preferred to have Saturn in the eleventh house.

In fact, all the rules agricultural plantings based on the positions of the moon. For most plants, for most crops, the waxing moon is best. Speaking about the position of the Moon, he primarily had in mind its dispositor. He preferred the dispositor of the Moon to be in aspect to benefic planets. And, despite the fact that he did not specifically mention it, it was a very common procedure to place the Moon in the sign that governs a particular culture. Where this was difficult, watermarks were used.

For other types of agricultural work: Scorpio has traditionally been considered a good Moon sign for weeding. The rule for working with seedlings is actually the same as for planting cereals. With one exception: he did not like in this case the ascendant in fixed signs.

Rencier wrote about rental of premises, as well as about the purchase. In the case of a lease, he actually used the same model as for the sale.

And the last business of the fourth house is expelling evil spirits from home. I must confess to you that I have never done an elective work on spirits. But in case you have to: The Moon should not fall on the Ascendant, should not be in Cancer, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius. The Moon must be in divergent aspect with malefic planets and converging with benefics.

    fifth house

Most often, the fifth house is used in all matters related to reproduction, although several other topics apply to it. At first it seems a little strange that in a society in which contraception was completely absent, such attention was nevertheless paid to the issues of the fifth house. Not just questions of the fifth house, but elective horoscopes relating to pregnancy. Of course, we know very well that there are biologically reasonable periods in which a woman can become pregnant. In addition, we know that the mortality rate used to be very high. Thus, the question was not only that pregnancy occurred, it was important that the offspring be viable and safely reach adulthood. Birthright issues were also important. The firstborn was to be a son, and that was very important.

Water signs and Taurus are considered fertile signs, these are female signs. Therefore, an interesting connection and an interesting task faced the astrologer, who had to choose the sex of the unborn child. They influenced gender based on the qualities of signs. David (David Meadows) touched on this a little bit yesterday in his lecture when he mentioned how he and his wife tried to get around the predictions of the Vedic astrologer and tried to conceive a boy when the Moon was in a male sign. The full rule for this kind of conception is to guess so that the Moon is on the ascendant or on the fifth house cusp, so that both the ascendant and the fifth house cusp are in masculine signs. And it is preferable that the dispositor of both the first and fifth houses be in a masculine sign as well. Thus, the more male signs are involved, the more you will fit this traditional model.

I must confess that I have no idea whether this rule works or not. Because in all cases in my practice that concerned the issues of conception - the main issue that worried my clients was infertility. It was so important for them to have a child at all that there was not even a question about sex. Thus, when I myself found myself in such a situation, I tried to ensure that all the main factors were met. Firstly, I needed fertile signs, and of course the second thing you need to do is to try to ensure that fertile signs are not afflicted and do not have malefic planets in them. Rencier wrote that in his opinion it is very important to strengthen Venus. I confess that I have never done this. Not because I didn't think it would help, but because the time frame I had to meet didn't allow me to choose a Venus with any of the virtues.

Another placement recommended by Rencier is to place the Ascendant and the Moon in Libra, Cancer on the cusp of the tenth house, and then, depending on how you place the ruler of the ascendant and the ruler of the cusps of the fifth and tenth houses, it will depend on whether you can influence to choose the sex of the child or not. Rencier himself was well aware that it was rather difficult to comply with all the conditions of the model that he proposed, so he recommended another version - a simplified one. The simplified version was to strengthen the Ascendant and the Moon and place Jupiter on the tenth house cusp.

Rencier also pointed to those factors that speak of a stillborn child. And, despite the fact that he never mentioned abortion, I use this model in cases of abortion. He talked about the fact that the moon should be waning and at the same time descending. In fact, he preferred the following position of the Moon: it should be between the MC and the ascendant, but not very close to the MC. The Moon must also be in sextile or trine to the beneficent planets Venus and Jupiter, and he preferred her to be in mutual reception with Mars. On the ascendant, he preferred to have a female sign, and the ruler of the ascendant - in the same quadrant - between the MC and the ascendant.

He also gives rules for the baptism or circumcision of children. I was very surprised that this topic is used in elective astrology. I can still understand the timing of circumcision because there is a risk of injury, but baptism seemed strange at first.

In the case of circumcision, he preferred that Venus should have a greater dignity than Mars, and Venus should be in converging aspect with Jupiter. The aspect of Venus to the ascendant or to the ruler of the ascendant was also needed. And there should not have been an aspect to Saturn. He emphasized that there should be no aspect to Saturn in order to avoid any type of infection. But since he also talks about strengthening Jupiter, it occurred to me that he also cared about whether the operation would harm the client.

When I carefully read the rules of baptism, I understood what he was doing. The rules characterize the attempt to make the child a truly religious person. Because they correspond exactly to the considerations that you will use in the natal horoscope to conclude that a person will be religious.

So what did he do? The Ascendant, its ruler and the Moon must be strong. Jupiter he placed in the first or ninth house, preferably in aspect to the Moon, the ascendant or their rulers, and Mars and Saturn should not influence.

Another theme of the fifth house, which can be used in modern astrology, concerns receiving gifts or giving. When studying the Greek language, I realized that for gifts and for a bribe - they use the same word. Usually those gifts that go through the fifth house can be as simple as a birthday present, but I highly doubt you will need an elective card in order to choose a birthday present. The only case I can think of that fits this kind of situation is when the client expects to receive something in return for his gift. Rencier describes such cases quite clearly. When you receive guests, you must strengthen the ascendant, the second house and its lord, and the moon and its dispositor, because this brings the profit that will come to you from these gifts. I mean that it will be profitable for you, for the recipient, and in this way he himself will receive a great benefit.

From Rencier's description, you understand that he is trying to make this situation such that both parties benefit. It makes it quite clear that this gift will benefit both the giver and the recipient. When he chooses the timing of the gifts, his instructions clearly indicate to us that the giver will not be overtly present in the process. And in this case, the model becomes more complicated. You are strengthening the fifth house, its ruler, Jupiter. You make Mars the ruler of the Ascendant. It should not be sign control. And then the Ascendant, the second house, the rulers of the first and second houses, the Moon, her Dispositor, part of Fortune, her Dispositor, Jupiter, the fifth house, the ruler of the fifth house should be placed in mutable signs, preferably in Sagittarius or Pisces. And if you can't find the Moon in Sagittarius or Pisces, then don't do anything. But it should be in the first 15 degrees of Sagittarius, because, as we remember, the last 15 degrees of Sagittarius is the animal half. You probably understand why I never use these rules. It's just that all this cannot be combined in a real time frame. I'll show you what I use.

Mars must have one of the five virtues, but not necessarily the lord of the sign. It is quite clear that Mars does not govern mutable signs. But Mars can be a triplicity or term lord.

First house, ruler of the first house, second house and ruler of the second house, fifth, ruler of the fifth, part of Fortune, ruler of the part of Fortune, Jupiter, ruler of Jupiter . If this fails, then the second chance is to put them in Virgo, and Gemini is the third.

The next item is what he called "making the garment." There is a saying in English that is used mainly in business: "good luck suit" or "good luck dress". And it seems to me that this is something similar to what Rencier wrote. One of the hallmarks of nobility was the ability to create a favorable impression with one's friends. So you can use these rules whenever you need to show up at some social event and you need to be noticed. In this case, you take the Ascendant, Ascendant ruler, the Moon, its ruler, the fifth house, its ruler, and everything should be in cardinal signs. So, the first house and the ruler of the first, the Moon and the ruler of the Moon, the fifth house and the ruler of the fifth, and everything should be in cardinal signs.

In this rule, he allowed to include the first 18 degrees of Virgo and the first 19 degrees of Sagittarius. I have no idea why. But he specifically mentioned not to use fixed signs. Unfortunately, he didn't explain why.

Of course, one of the things we associate with the fifth house is eating and drinking for pleasure.

He meant dinner parties, parties. It seems to me that the problems he addresses reflect rather the lack of refrigerators in his time. Although, I certainly agree that an accented Mars for a party is not very good. He also disliked air signs when game or poultry was served. He preferred the Moon in Pisces or Taurus whenever wine was served. And he especially pointed out the undesirability of the combination between the Moon and Saturn, because one of his concerns was that the wine should be good quality. The combination of the Moon with Saturn can cause a hangover.

The next category of fifth house topics is letter writing. Most modern astrologers may not be aware that the writing of a letter is something related to the fifth house, but if we look back and look at the refined style of the books of the 17th century, you may get an idea of what exactly he had in mind. It's a kind of verbal offering. His main idea was that there should be a good aspect between the Moon and Mercury, and he was especially careful that this did not happen on a retrograde Saturn. The next paragraph may seem too specific. This is the manufacture of perfumes and ointments. I thought about the reason why ointments are used in this thread. They are used primarily for medical purposes - but why are they in the same category as perfume? Because both of them are characterized by bright smells, just smells associated with perfumes are more pleasant. In these cases, he mainly takes care of the sign of the Moon and the ascendant. He likes fire signs. He likes when Venus is close to the Ascendant and the Moon is close to the MC. As for spirits, he wants the Moon in Gemini to be in converging aspect to Mercury.

And the fifth item, which he attributed to the fifth house, is the sending of ambassadors or messages. It seems to me that in relation to these rules, we will have to limit ourselves to the case of just impersonal messages. We may use the same rules for sending impersonal messages or for using e-mail.

What does he point to in these rules? It creates a link between the first house and the tenth. And this is curious enough because he doesn't actually mention the fifth house, only the trend. He is trying to win the favor of a man who happens to be taller than his client.

According to the rules that Rencier used, if you want to impress your king, there are two ways to choose the right configuration. The first is the Moon in ordinary reception with the Sun or the Moon in reception with the ruler of the tenth house. He preferred not only mutual reception, but also aspects between two terms. And he didn't want the Moon to be in Gemini or Pisces.

If the person you are trying to impress is not that much superior to you in social position, it may be worth replacing the ruler of the tenth hum with an appropriate planet that will personify this person well. In these cases, you are looking at aspects between the Moon and that planet's significator.

Exclamation from the hall: How about planning visits, negotiations?...

Answer: No, this is not the fifth house. By its nature, all negotiations are the first-seventh houses. And if life is at stake in these negotiations, then you should avoid: new relationships between the first and the eighth and twelfth houses. If you have two parties involved, two people, as is always the case in negotiations, then you will have two eighth houses: the usual eighth house, and you will have the eighth from the seventh. So you consider both the eighth houses as a possible personification of death, and you will also approach the twelfth and sixth houses.

Rencier does not give rules related to gambling, although he mentions them and says that they go through the fifth house. He writes about chess as about games of chance. But John Gendere dwells on gambling in more detail and also relates it to the topics of the fifth house. When I choose the time to gamble, my favorite method is to get a good aspect between the lords of the second and fifth. I would prefer the movement to go from the fifth lord to the second lord because that would represent money going from the fifth to the second. And if you want to get winning as a goal, then you certainly want the second house to receive money. And this should already be enough to start feeling how to work with it, and to develop some other ideas in this direction ourselves. For example, you certainly do not want the rulers of the fifth and second houses to be damaged by some malefic planets.

I repeat again that very often when doing elective work you find that you are very limited in your choices. For example, for any point in time, you can only have one combination of planets that you may prefer. For example, today there is a trine of Mars with Venus. Therefore, the only question before us is whether we can place Mars and Venus on the cusps of the houses that interest us. Let's assume we can do it. As a result, we will have very limited opportunities for the Fortune point. Thus, it turns out that the point of Fortune does not participate, does not work, that is, it is not something that you can influence. In that case, what should one strive for? I will try to find the exact ascendant so that I can use the Fortune point and put it in some aspect to the person's catalytic horoscope.

One more thought about this example about today's aspects. We have Venus in Virgo and Mars in Capricorn. Mars is exalted and Venus is debilitated. Therefore, thinking about them as the rulers of houses, you will choose Mars from this pair. For example, if you choose this pair for two houses such as the second and fifth, then you will be in a position where one of the houses will be much better than the second. What kind of house will it be?

Exclamation from the hall: please, please repeat. We are talking about today and the aspect of Mars and Venus is sufficient there. But very soon the opposition of Mars and Jupiter will go, what will it give us?

Answer: Opposition is a problematic aspect. The problem, the opposition is best described in one of Mellier's commentaries. He made this comment on his description of horary marriage charts. To paraphrase this comment, we can say: if you use the opposition, you will regret it. The analogy that comes to my mind about opposition is a moth flying towards a flame. The fatal attraction of this aspect is very strong. In other words, there is something about this preference that will not be to the benefit of the people in question, despite the fact that they are very eager to take steps towards advancement. II one of the thoughts that comes to mind about the impending opposition of Mars with Jupiter is that each of these two planets is in a sign of mutual fall. This is a combination that I would avoid because I would be concerned about the parties that are involved in the process. It is quite possible that such a combination will be harmful.

Exclamation from the hall: I have a question. As far as I know, the fifth house is often a waste of money, but is it often considered if a businessman is going to invest money for the purpose of resale?

    Lee Liman:

The question of financial instruments is always a question of the relationship between the second and fifth houses. And whenever in such cases, when the second and fifth houses are involved, you must answer the question: how risky is this operation. I'm not hiding the terms of the procedures by which an investment turns around here, but in the United States we make a distinction between stocks going through the fifth house and funds going through the second house because most funds don't fluctuate in price.

Another approach to this issue is to think about how you make money as a result of your investments, where the profit comes from. If profit comes from dividends, then you are using financial instruments of the second house. But if you are making money as a result of the item in which you have invested has increased significantly in the chain, then it will be an investment in the fifth house.

    sixth house

Most of the elective factors of the sixth house relate to medical matters. They primarily relate to the choice of the exact time to start medical procedures or start operations. I will give you general rules. The first house is the vitality, the vitality of the patient. The sixth house represents sickness. The seventh house represents the doctor, the eighth house represents death, and the tenth house represents the method of healing. These general rules can be applied to 70-80% of all elective cards for medical issues. However, there are some features and differences that apply to certain states. And I would like to mention two or three such rules.

Why am I mentioning these particular features? Because they are applicable to some modern medical situations. For example, Rencier gives a set of rules that he applies in cases of head diseases and medicines, and describes two situations in this context that caught my attention. The first he relates to hair loss. I thought about it, and the analogy with chemotherapy came to my mind. So for this set of circumstances, I would like to give you a set of rules:

It is necessary that the ascendant be strengthened with the help of benefic planets, avoiding aspects with malefic planets. The moon should be in the first house waning, and in aspect with benefic planets. He especially liked the Moon in Taurus in this case. Whenever this hair loss occurs, he prefers the Moon to be in a feminine sign. You can place the Moon in the western hemisphere of the horoscope. He specifically emphasizes that in this case you should avoid the aspect between the Sun and the Moon.

Medieval doctors divided medicines into two main categories. The medicine was given to the patient either in order to strengthen his health, or the remedy was given in order to induce vomiting, rejection of this or that. According to medieval ideas, the disease occurred when one of the four bodily elements (fluids) was weakened or damaged. For example, if you are angry, it means that you have excess bile. And if you continue in this state for a long enough time, you will get sick.

If you have too much bile in your body, the question is how do you get rid of it. You can push it up or down. Therefore, the main prescriptions were made about which way to get rid of excess bile. As we remember, animal signs are used when you want to achieve the effect of vomiting. You put the ascendant, the ruler of the ascendant, and the Moon in a certain animal sign, a ruminant sign, that is, Aries, Taurus, or Capricorn. The next thing to watch out for is that you should avoid aspecting the Moon from any of the planets below the horizon. They had a very literal idea of what is above and what is below. And what goes under the horizon - goes down, if the planets are above the horizon, then the substances rise. Therefore, if you want everything to erupt upward, you must avoid the planets below the horizon.

On the other hand, if you want exactly deletions, you can simply swap what this rule says. The preferred moon sign to remove is Libra and Aquarius. In second place are Virgo, Scorpio and Pisces, some sources also give Cancer. And some talk about Taurus. Rencier was very fond of the water signs in this case for the Moon and Ascendant. He didn't want Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars to be connected in any way with the ascendant, and for the Moon to aspect the planets above the horizon. That is, just the opposite of what it was for vomiting. Some Arabic sources on Rencier suggest that the Moon should be in the last half of Libra or the first half of Scorpio.

Rules for defecation - they also refer to the beginning of a diet for weight loss, weight loss. I only work with these rules in these cases, because vomiting and bowel movements are no longer popular medical procedures that we use. I'm sure any of you who have ever experienced these sensations understand why.

Rencier also gives elective rules at the time of taking a bath. And we must remember that bathing at that time could involve danger. There were also medical prescriptions for certain types of bathing. Sometimes there are cases in which these rules can come in handy. In these cases, you usually put the Moon in a water sign aspecting Jupiter or Venus.

I briefly mentioned that the timing of surgeries is basically the same. For surgical operations, we use the rules that we talked about today. I will give you a couple of examples when we start to analyze horoscopes. The same rules are used at the time of the patient's examination by a doctor.

And finally, we come to that set of rules, which is not related to the medical topic, but belongs to the sixth house. Rencier writes that the first of these points is finding and hiring servants. In today's situation, we just hire workers. What should be strong in a horoscope? This is the ascendant, the Moon, part of Fortune and the sixth house.

Pets such as dogs are also traditionally assigned to the sixth house no matter what size they are. Horses are traditionally associated with the twelfth house, and all birds belong to the sixth house, even such large birds as eagles, which can be truly enormous. Therefore, the basic rule for buying and selling small animals is to reinforce their usual places, and then their significators, depending on which particular animal is in question.

Rennier believed that questions about buying and selling pets were very similar to any questions about buying and selling. We still have the first house is the buyer, the seventh is the seller, the tenth house is the price, but in this case, instead of using the fourth house as for real estate, we use the sixth.

    seventh house

When we talk about marriage, we are trying to apply the same planet to those who are getting married. But in Rencier's time, these cards were approached differently. Usually, attempts to determine the primary significators consisted in the fact that the man was personified by the Sun or the Ascendant, and the woman was either the Moon or the Descendant (see W. Robson "Elective Astrology"). Sometimes there have been attempts to define a man as a planet with which the Moon makes a divergent aspect, and a woman was personified as a planet with which the Moon will make a convergent aspect.

I had the opportunity to test this rule. I thought it didn't work. The more I played with this rule, the more I became convinced that the marriage map does not show us two people separately. Marriage, by its very nature, tells us about the couple. I don't know why Rencier gave rules separating one person from another, he himself never applied them. What did he do instead? He talked about all the planets, how he would use them in the marriage chart. So he meant much more general description horoscope.

I am sure that when mapping a marriage, it is very important to ask people what they want from marriage, to find out their expectations. If you think about where the planets are now, I take the liberty of giving you recommendations on where to put Saturn or Pluto. I mean, we can't get rid of them, but we would like to minimize their negative impact, that is, we have to calculate where to put them. Just like somewhere we have to put Neptune. How do we approach these kinds of situations? We need to understand exactly what these people are uniting for. And accordingly, to determine those areas of their lives that they want to live separately. For example, two married people choose different career paths. Then the beating house, which is related to the career, can be the house where we will place the malefic planets. Then, in the case where the couple does not want to have children, it will be convenient for you to put barren signs in the fifth house. But you may not want to put malefic planets in the fifth house, as the fifth house is not only about children, but also about sex. I know a certain group of people dealing with Eastern religions. This category of people is interested in their brothers being deprived of sexual relations. In this case, I know exactly where to put Saturn, but it is quite obvious that this is not something you would do under normal circumstances.

So what do I get from people? I want them to tell me three or four of their goals: how they see themselves in a couple relationship. They may say, for example, that they want to have children, they want to host, they like to travel. In that case, what will I strengthen? This is the first house, because we always strengthen the first house. Second home, because I don't know a single person who would like marriage to bring poverty. Fifth house because they want children. Eleventh house because if they want to party, it means they want to hang out with friends. And the ninth house because they want to travel. For any time, this set of houses is already too large to be strengthened all in the same way.

And now I will lay down some rules in this regard. Rencier believed that the Moon should increase in light (the growing Moon), should not be in aspect with malefic planets. He considered it very important to strengthen Venus, he did not use retrograde or burned Venus, or Venus in a falling house, or afflicted by a malefic planet, because he believed that Venus is the most important planet and the main significator of marriage. He liked that Venus, the Moon and Jupiter were in aspects to each other. He avoided Aries, Libra or Aquarius for the Moon. For my part, I would not be very worried about these signs if the people in question have these signs highlighted. In these cases, you should not avoid them. And Rencier also emphasized that it is very important that both born were somehow reflected in the marriage chart.

The next theme related to the seventh house is what Rencier called "Venusian sports". Nowadays it is known simply under the name "sex". But when you read a seventeenth-century source, you know you've reached the section on sex, because the author suddenly switches from English to Latin. Let's try to state this topic a little more clearly than Rencier did. He liked animal signs in this case and considered the idea of fertile signs and barren signs depending on whether conception is desired or not. He avoided aspects between the Moon and Saturn because it interferes with orgasm. One thing I find odd is that he avoided the aspect between the Moon and Jupiter, as thought it was a sign of a woman's rejection. I don't think this is correct. I can only add that we are talking about religious virtue, which in this case dates back to the time of Rencier.

All partnerships, whether marriage or otherwise, belong to the seventh house. The basic rule for a good relationship is to put the Moon, Ascendant and Ascendant ruler in mutable signs. It is good that Jupiter rules the Moon, but this rule does not have to be ruled by sign. Leo is an acceptable sign, although it is not a mutable sign, its relationship with the Sun is considered more or less good. And Rencier preferred that the Moon increase in light in the speed of movement.

The seventh house also represents open enmity and will reveal x enemies. And the most obvious example of this is war. Perhaps you know that a few years ago, B. Brady and I worked on a model for applying the rules in military operations and astrological rules for predicting various sports games. Brady worked primarily with cricket, I played football, but she and I considered other sports as well. We realized that the rules related to military operations work great in team and sports games. And they don't work as well in non-team sports. To apply them to non-team sports, they need to be slightly modified.

The basic idea in the rules relating to wars and sports is that the side that starts the conflict is the first house. The question of who starts the conflict can be somewhat confusing for the astrologer. In cases where you occupy territory, when you invade someone else's territory, these are perfectly clear cases. But how do you solve this issue when it comes to basketball? In the case of most sports, the away team is the challenger team, so it is the first home.

There are several specific types of sporting events. The Football World Cup is an example because when both teams are playing at home, then the team that starts the match will be the first home. If we are not talking about the home field and the visiting team, if you are playing on neutral territory, then the first home team will be the team that starts the game first.

When you have determined the first and seventh houses, you look at which of the two significators is stronger. The team with the stronger significator will win the match.

And there are a few specific rules relating to the contest that go beyond the usual ideas of retrograde or direct planets. If your ruler is a higher planet, this is considered an advantage regardless of retrograde.

Mercury and Venus are considered the inner planets. That is, in this case, both the inner and outer planets are considered. When it comes to the outer planets, Mars is preferred. Brady has found a few rules that don't fit with the old notions. One factor in particular was contrary to expectations. This factor is as follows: Mars in Libra and Taurus proved to be much more effective than Mars in Aries or Scorpio. Our conclusion was: Mars in Taurus or Libra is Mars angry. Since he is angry, he may play a little better. The same idea applies to the use of planets in exile.

What else did Brady and I find interesting? Whenever Mercury and Jupiter rule the ascendant from the seventh house, your ability to predict the outcome is somewhat reduced. Because Mercury and Jupiter are not good fighters, and this is clearly seen when you follow the game. You see the brilliant moments of the game on the field, but it seems that the players have forgotten about the task of winning.

I began to apply these ideas in elective work, working with people who have disagreements on legal issues. I asked myself the question, do they want or do not want to end these differences with peace? Do they really want to resolve their differences by coming to some kind of mutual solution, or will they take the matter to court? If I understood that they were ready to make friendly concessions, I chose Mercury and Jupiter as the rulers of the ascendant and descendant. Since litigation refers to the same type of "warfare", I will mention how the relationship of the first and seventh houses works in this case. The person who starts the lawsuit, that is, the plaintiff, is the first house.

Exclamation from the hall: could you tell which planets the rule applies to: a planet in exile is stronger than a planet in control?

    Lee Liman: Mars, Saturn, Venus.

There are cases where there is no formal proceedings. For example, two parties are negotiating. If we look at the situation as a whole, we see that it is simply a difficult situation of buying and selling, because every time the relationship of the first and seventh houses covers all topics, from active and enthusiastic agreement to extreme disagreements. Therefore, if we are talking about negotiations in which each side has its own obligations, its own position, then building an elective map, you decide which side (1st or 7th house) describes your client.

For example, you know that the negotiations must start at 9 am on a certain day. You are building a horoscope for 9 hours. You look at the horoscope and see what happens to the rulers of the first and seventh houses. And you choose which host or guest is more profitable for you to be. While thinking, you can use the sports model where the away team is challenged and therefore the first house. If it's better for you to be the seventh house, this can be done by negotiating in your own office, because then you become a host team.

Now imagine a situation where the meeting should take place on neutral territory. In this case, how will you become one side or the other? There are two ways to solve this problem. If you arrive first, you are the side that chooses where to sit, and you are the first to put your papers on the table, you settle in this place as in the seventh house. The second way: you show that you are not yet ready, because you need to arrange for the other side to speak first.

Now what do you do if you want to be the first home? You are doing the opposite. You show up to the negotiations a little late, and you should definitely start talking as soon as you cross the threshold.

We talked about war as a function of the seventh house, but the truce, the conclusion of peace, also belongs to the seventh house. This type of horoscope also has its own peculiarity. You don't need Mars, Jupiter, or Saturn retrograde. You don't need these planets in a weak position either. In addition, you must establish a sextile or trine connection between the rulers of the first and seventh houses. This is a general rule for when you want to settle amicably.

If you want to come to a peaceful agreement, then you are looking for a good ratio of the first and seventh houses, that is, converging aspects between the rulers of the first and seventh houses.

The next point (according to Rencier) is the capture of castles and cities. I have never had the opportunity to verify the correct application of these rules. In case you have to build such a horoscope - you will need to pay attention to the fourth house, because the fourth house will rule the castle or city.

In terms of buying weapons, there needs to be a relationship between the Moon and Mars, and Mars to be as strong as possible.

Another infrequent example of the use of the seventh house is the search for fugitives. One way to successfully escape is to use the Idle Moon. If you, on the contrary, want to find someone, then the Moon should be placed in a square or opposition to the ruler of the ascendant. Rencier gave a set of rules by which to force a thief to confess to stealing. And again, I must confess that I have never had such a question in my practice. But nevertheless, I used these rules in cases where I thought that the situation was similar.

For example, under American law in all civil lawsuits, each of the two parties involved in the trial testifies to the other side. Such surveys are used to ensure that the other party has the opportunity to obtain information that can only be obtained in court, where the parties are under oath. In other words, you will have to confess to something that you would not have confessed to in other circumstances. Thus, if you need the other party to speak, you will need to make sure that their speech fits the following rules: the Moon must be in one of the human signs, the ascendant must be in Libra, and preferably some planet, with which the Moon makes a converging aspect was in the seventh house.

And finally, various games and entertainments take place in the seventh house. Chess is understandable, because it is a duel. But I was surprised to see game hunting and fishing in this list. Obviously, in the time of Rencier, this kind of hunting was considered a competition, even if a person did it alone.

Obviously, if you want the other party to agree to your terms, you need your ruler to be stronger than their ruler.

    8th house

So we move to the eighth house. The first point is making wills. I find Rencier's rules for writing wills curious. It is clear from his description that his contemporaries wrote their wills on their deathbeds. The questioner's main interest was whether the will would be rewritten. I would apply these rules in cases where we need to find out whether or not a person will live, rather than deciding whether he will still write a will or not. The two rules he mentions can be used in other cases as well. For example, if the Moon is in a fixed sign, then there will be fewer changes to the will. If the Moon is in a fixed sign and in aspect to Saturn, then the will will not need to be rewritten.

He also gives a rule for what we would now call inheritance. The only time I used these rules was with a woman who was having a disagreement with her brother and their father had just died. What will you do if you need to reach an agreement in this case? You will have to look for receptions or aspects between the second and eighth houses. Just as we talked about stocks, when we had money going from the fifth house to the second, we are talking about receiving an inheritance, about receiving money by inheritance, if we have a movement from the eighth to the second house.

    ninth house

The rules that I gave you for the third house are, in fact, the rules that apply to the ninth house.

Rennes also talked about shipbuilding and sailing how about the affairs of the ninth house. In this case, first of all, he paid attention to the position of the Moon, in cases where the ship was a trading ship, he also spoke about the Wheel of Fortune. In fact it was a common idea: a strong Moon in aspect with benefic planets and no aspect with malefic planets.

Also belongs to the ninth house study of sciences. In his time, any knowledge was called science. Therefore, we can say that it is any type of learning. He wanted in this case to have many planets in air signs and in aspect to Mercury. Mercury was supposed to have merit. This rule also applies to music if you strengthen Venus.

    tenth house

This is the coronation and the awarding of titles. I've never had a chance to answer questions like this. These rules apply more to interpreting events rather than timing, because in most countries we are legally unable to timing events of this kind. In the United States, for example, this is defined by the constitution.

Since our clocks are set to atomic time, we have the ability to track when this event happens, and then interpret it. This situation is more common than the one in which we have a chance to pick someone.

The rules themselves are to strengthen the tenth house and its ruler, as well as the Sun and Moon. You should make sure that all four indicators are devoid of aspect with malefic planets. You also need to pay attention to the eclipses this year. If these eclipses fall on those degrees that are important in the elective chart, the time at which the eclipse falls must be excluded. Rencier's favorite coronation horoscope is Leo rising, the Sun in the tenth Taurus, the Moon in the first house conjunct Venus, Jupiter and Mercury in a strong position.

It is obvious that in the year such days are met by the strength of a couple, nor two days should a coronation be held. So for me the big question is how often we can use these recommendations.

The following are the rules that I would call general rules for forming a government, they can also be attributed to cooperation, as well as to national rulers. The most general idea is that you are convinced of the strength of the tenth house, strengthen it.

The next item is gaining the king's favor. Here you need a reception between the first and tenth houses. Justice, justice and court cases were the traditional prerogative of the aristocracy. And we can use this rule for a favorable outcome of a court case. If you are of noble birth, then the court has always considered the case in your direction.

The next point has to do with the fact that kings have the largest number of castles and dwellings, castles and palaces. Around the king there was always a retinue that entertained him, and all these people constantly moved from one castle to another. The unfavorable consequences of such visits for hoti castles was that they had to entertain the royal retinue at their own expense. I think you can use these rules when you need to receive business guests. In these cases, you need Jupiter ascending, you need Mars and Saturn to be completely unrelated to the descendant, and in fact you don't need any close conjunction at all with the ascendant. Therefore, Jupiter is best placed at ten or nine degrees from the ascendant, and not two or three degrees.

And finally, the last component in the tenth house. This is skills training. You may wonder why this applies to the affairs of the tenth house, since we are used to the fact that any learning process is related to the ninth. But if we are talking about applied learning, then the best solution is to link the ninth and tenth houses. Rencier preferred in this case to use mutable signs on the MC or the sign of Libra. He needed a strong Mercury, and if any particular planet represented a profession, then that planet needed to be strengthened.

    Eleventh house

Fulfillment of your hopes. Sagittarius, Cancer or Pisces on the ascendant, it would also be nice if the Moon was in one of these signs, and the ruler of the eleventh house in one of these signs. It is also good for Jupiter to have a reception with the eleventh house, or be the lord of the eleventh. Another good idea is the lord of the first in the eleventh house and the lord of the eleventh in the first. The sun is in the tenth. It is a very rare case when you can bring all these indicators into one card. Therefore, try to have as many of the above list completed as possible.

Next item - gaining a good reputation. The rules are quite simple. The Sun and Moon must be either in a sextile or in a trine. It is also preferred that the luminaries have trines or sextiles to the ruler of the ascendant or to the ruler of the eleventh house. If you cannot receive these aspects, then the luminaries must be at least in mutual reception.

The next type of elective work in the eleventh house is love and friends. It is worth thinking hard about what kind of events are meant. However, the rules are: Strengthen the Moon, strengthen the eleventh house and the lord of the eleventh house, make Venus the dispositor of as many of these factors as possible, and make Venus have the maximum possible merit.

For the fulfillment of promises, desires - the ruler of the eleventh house must be in a sextile or trine to the ruler of the ascendant, the first house and the ruler of the first house are strengthened, and part of the fortune is in a sextile or trine to the ruler of the ascendant.

    twelfth house

The first point is release of prisoners and prisoners. The reason this is on the list of elective questions is because according to Rencier's system, if a malefic planet conjuncts the ascendant of the horoscope, that person will go back to prison. Therefore, it is preferred that a benefic planet conjunct the Ascendant, as well as a good aspect between the rulers of the tenth and twelfth houses. It is good if the Moon has dignity and increases both in light and in speed, and is in converging conjunction with Jupiter and Venus.

Another issue is buying horses and riding. He was talking about horse racing, like a competition, a sport. And what did he prefer to do? He needed to determine the following factors: the first house is its ruler, the Moon is its ruler, the point of Fortune, and any planet in conjunction with the Moon, all of these components must have virtues. Then he wanted the horse to leave the stall when the planetary ruler of this hour was in conjunction with the ascendant.

Further we will apply this theory on examples, of which I have quite a lot. I noticed that some of the questions that you asked at the seminar. Mostly there were questions about how to distinguish one statement from another. These are very realistic questions. Because in any kind of elective work you can imagine, there are some factors that may seem positive from your point of view and some factors that may seem negative to you. Therefore, any elective work is to collect a sufficient number of working factors, those that you will rely on in order to get the result you want.

    1.6. Questions and answers

Question from the floor: when we talked about the fourth house, you tie said if there are rules related to the move, how can you plan the day of the move?

Answer: For moving from one house to another, the first thing you should watch out for is to avoid fixed signs on the corners. In general, the house you move out of counts as the first house, and the house you move into counts as the seventh. Whether I decide that this situation should be considered as a situation of the first and seventh houses, or I consider it as a journey through the ninth house depends largely on how far you are moving. If you move to a new house, whether you bought it or rented it, it is still in any case a contract, a purchase or a lease. And this agreement is treated as ordinary contracts. The only area that becomes sensitive and related to the move as such is whether there will be any problems with moving your belongings from one place to another. For this situation, I would strengthen the first and second houses.

Question from the floor: Nothing was said about advertising. Let's say I want to advertise, what should I consider?

Answer: The reason I didn't mention advertising is that Rensier didn't write anything about it. However, when I work with such elective questions, I consider them according to the nature of the product being advertised. For example, if you place an advertisement on your home page, I simply consider such an attempt as a normal buying and selling procedure, through the first and seventh houses. In such a case, I will strengthen the first and seventh houses and choose the preferred of the two. If we are talking about advertising in a newspaper, I will always keep in mind that the newspaper is the third house, in which case I will look for a connection between the third and second houses.

Question from the floor: In horary astrology, a conjunction with Spica is considered a favorable factor. Do you use them?

Answer: Yes, I often used Spica, she helped me out in those cases when I could not find another solution, when all the other stars confused me.

Question from the floor: How do you work with a series of similar events? For example, treatment, paperwork?

Answer: This is a very important area because many of the questions for which it is worth building an elective map, tie are single events. Whenever there is a conflict or negotiation involved, this process can involve many meetings and many events. It is quite possible that it is worth building elective maps for each of these events, or maybe building a map for the first of the elective events will be enough. I would prefer that I be able to choose the time for the maximum number of events.

I had a similar case a few years ago. The man was about to divorce his wife, she was the initiator of the divorce. He wanted her to leave him the children. In the part of the country where he lived, the fact of leaving children to their father was very unusual, and the horoscope at the time of the initiation of a lawsuit against him indicated that the likelihood of remaining with children was rather small. That is, if he lets things unfold on their own as the chip goes, then he won't get children. Therefore, he asked me to choose the time for each meeting that will take place during this trial. And the main \n> I task in constructing these horoscopes was to ensure that the significators of both sides were in converging aspects of I "/MV to the other. But sometimes it happens that when you give people a bus to agree, they do not use this chance. Synastry The couple's horoscopes indicated big problems, but in the end they came to an agreement and he got custody of the children, so I think it's possible to make sure that all these additional horoscopes together give us the possibility of an alternative solution, than we saw in the first horoscope.

Question: I'm interested in the moon without a course. Does the Moon differ when entering a sign and in the last degrees. Are there any observations on the effect of the Loop without course?

Answer: The only difference I take into account for the No Course Loop is whether that Moon is in Rho-IKIX, Taurus, Cancer, or Sagittarius. Because Lipley paid attention to the Moon in these signs. One of the ways I test elective ideas is by trying to find a good time for myself to make business decisions that involve money. And I proved that these signs are really important. In relation to my wallet, they really turn out to be significant signs. Therefore, I will definitely choose events that fall on the Lupa without a course in these signs.

I can't say that I noticed any difference between the Moon at the beginning of a sign and the Moon off course at the end, but this is one of those areas that I want to study specifically.

Question from the floor: Is there any experience with harmonics, and if so, how?

Answer: No. And absolutely not. The reason is that if you multiply your points, you will get many more wrong answers. The worst thing you can do is have many ways to say yes, yes, but in many different ways.

Exclamation from the hall: are you considering the last aspect of the Moon for a particular position?

Answer: I am considering the last aspect of the Moon before it is in a 'off course' position. When I was working in the laboratory, I noticed that the centrifuges would turn off at night if the last aspect of the Moon was with Uranus. If the last aspect was Neptune, none of us could guess what results would be obtained. Therefore, these evenings, I did not experiment. In general, it can be said that in most elective horoscopes, I do not pay too much attention to the following aspects of the Loop. Maybe I'm considering one or two.

Question from the floor: are there times when retrograde planets are used?

Answer: The only time it can be useful to have retrograde planets is when the person you are making a horoscope for has a retrograde planet in their natal chart. For example, we talked about Mercury retrograde today. People with natal Mercury retrograde will have an advantage these days over people who have planetary Mercury direct. So if your elective work is to help a particular person get what they want, and their planet or my planet is Mercury retrograde, then I will have an advantage over you and I can use it.

Question from the floor: Moon without a course, if you use the Wheel of Fortune, then the last major aspect with it helps the Moon without a course? Do you use it?

Answer: Yes. And this aspect was used by Joan Quigley.
