Sometimes circumstances arise when, while studying at a higher institution, it is necessary to take a “break”. The legality of this "study break" is interpreted by the Orders of the Russian Federation - "On Education" and "On Approval of the Procedure for Granting Academic Leave". They regulate the procedure and grounds for its registration.

First, collect the necessary documentation. It could be:

1. Conclusion of the medical board on the state of your health (in the case of medical leave). Such a document can be issued by both a public health institution and a medical dispensary. All certificates and documents must be certified by your local (district) hospital.
2. Certificate from the antenatal clinic (if the leave is related to pregnancy and childbirth).
3. Certificate from the military registration and enlistment office (if you start serving in the army).
4. Birth certificate of the child (in case of leave to care for a baby under 3 years old).
5. Certificate of health of the patient (if you are looking after him).
6. Documents (from the place of work of parents and social authorities) confirming the status of low-income families.
7. Document from the place of work (if required by the production need).

All certificates must contain seals and stamps and be certified by health authorities. Also, do not delay the date of submission of documents, as they have a certain period of validity.

There is a nuance here: the student should not have debts for the previous session, otherwise the dean's office has the right to refuse. Then you must pass a medical commission, which will require:

• letter of inquiry from the university;
• student ticket;
• record book;
