Our city has been taking active part in the initiative with this name for more than a year. It is one of 900 cities in the world that have joined the movement.
But in order to confirm compliance with the status, it was necessary to prove that our city is really friendly to children. And this is a number of strict criteria!
During the preparation of this material, the members of the group for calculating the index "Friendliness of the city to children and youth" in October-November 2017 collected statistical data from the interdepartmental structures of the city involved in the project, and a survey was conducted among children and parents. The study was carried out according to seven parameters, determined by the form of calculation of the index of friendliness to children.
Based on the results of the monitoring, an index of the city's friendliness to children was calculated, which characterizes the situation of children in Mozyr. And it amounted to 6.9 points, which is 0.2 more than the 2012 index.
In Mozyr, much attention is paid to youth policy issues, everything possible is done to fully satisfy the needs of children in education, health and leisure, development of creative and personal potential.
In Mozyr, there are a regional organization of the Belarusian Republican Pioneer Organization (96%), a regional organization of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (57%), a regional branch of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Firefighters, a regional branch of the public association "Belarusian Association of UNESCO Clubs" and the Youth Parliament of Minsk. Mozyr, which unite the most active part of the young citizens of the region. Projects public associations start annually in our city.
The Youth Parliament, which works within the framework of the “Children Friendly City” initiative, includes 15 people - these are students of schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, colleges, universities, who manage not only to gain knowledge and profession, but also actively participate in the life of the city. These are young people with an active life position.
Young people actively participate not only in local events, round tables, initiatives, projects and sessions, but also in regional and republican projects and events.
In July 2017, an open dialogue was held on the topic “Youth Policy: Successes, Problems and Prospects” in the Mozyr District Executive Committee.
Last November, Mozyr hosted the Forum of Children's and Youth Initiatives "Mozyr - a city friendly to children", which allowed the children to make a positive contribution to the development of the city by creating economic, patriotic and social projects.

Environmental problematic issues were raised at the Moscow State Pedagogical University. I. P. Shamyakina scientific and practical conference"Youth and ecological problems modernity". The experts were not eminent scientists, but students from various schools in the city. A project was developed and implemented to improve the beach area and clean up the banks of the Pripyat River. The problem of abandoned pets has not remained aloof from the view and discussion of children.
The indicator "Living environment" increased by 0.5. In 2014-2016, the park area was landscaped, in particular the playground, new attractions were purchased, the free territory was landscaped with small architectural forms, and ramps were installed in public places. Some adjoining territories of high-rise residential buildings were landscaped by the efforts of the Mozyr Rajzhilkomkhoz enterprise.
The project "Modern Sports and Recreation Complex" was implemented in Mozyr in 2017 in the Slavyansky microdistrict. Thanks to the project, outdoor exercise equipment appeared in the microdistrict. Here, children and parents can play sports at any time.
The first sports complex under the Gazprom for Children in Belarus program with the support of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee was opened in Mozyr. The complex has become a pilot project. It is a multi-functional building physical education and sports, includes halls for weightlifting, general physical training and a dry rowing gym, a rehabilitation center. The dormitory of the branch of the Gomel Olympic Reserve School has been overhauled and modern conditions have been created for classes and training of students involved in sports.
Employees of the Mozyr District Department of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with minors, are constantly working on the prevention of crime and delinquency among adolescents in the Mozyr district. But despite the measures taken, this has not yet made it possible to reduce the number of students registered with juvenile delinquents, with a general decrease in juvenile delinquency. The main types of crimes are theft, hooliganism, there are no serious crimes.
It was possible to reduce the number of crimes related to drug trafficking (from 8 cases to 5), car theft (from 2 cases to 0), and an increase in the number of minors with a criminal record and committed crimes was not allowed.
Preventive work was carried out with adolescents who are on various types of records, in the form of trainings and conversations with employees of the police department, school psychologists. For propaganda purposes legal knowledge, as well as the prevention of crimes and offenses, the employees of the JDN held 274 speeches in educational institutions, at the place of residence, in labor collectives, in mass media on various legal issues with demonstration of videos. A number of sports and tourism events were held.
In 2017, there was a decrease in the number of road accidents in the Mozyr district involving children under 16 years of age (-50%: from 6 to 3 cases), minors injured in them (-60%: from 5 to 2 cases), the number of dead children in an accident remained the same - 1 child.
In order to prevent road traffic injuries and deaths on the roads, employees of the traffic police department, environmental protection and safety carried out a preventive action "Shock therapy", during which minors in the penalty area were presented for inspection emergency vehicles after an accident, the causes and consequences of these accidents are discussed.
In 2016-2017, a general medical examination of children was carried out, all students of schools in the city of Mozyr were preventively examined (100%). Preventive examinations of schoolchildren are carried out 2 times a year. Immunization against influenza was carried out, 40% of children were vaccinated, which made it possible to avoid the epidemic and the closure of schools for quarantine.
In educational institutions, physical culture minutes are regularly held, physical exercise and games between lessons, physical education during the sports hour in extended day groups, Days of Health, Sports, and much more. Tourist events have become traditional. Tourist gatherings for students are held annually, in which more than 400 people take part.
In 2017, by the beginning of the academic year, two more sports classes in volleyball and freestyle wrestling were opened (at the end of 2017 there were 5 of them).
At the department of education, sports and tourism, the regional council of parents "Interaction" conducts its work. Once every six months, its meetings are held, the topics of which are relevant and diverse: the prevention of social and pedagogical problems in the family, the useful employment of children in their free time from school, and others. An interdepartmental parent conference is held annually with the participation of members of the Youth Parliament.
313 diplomas won academic subjects in competitions, conferences and olympiads of the regional, republican, international levels - this is only for the 2016/2017 academic year.
Students of the district have a stable result at the third and final stages of the Republican Olympiad in academic subjects: 44 diplomas - the 3rd stage of the Republican Olympiad and 9 - at the final stage.
One of the forms of talent support is the promotion of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus to support talented youth. At the end of 2016, 8 students were awarded with incentives. Every year, young talents of the region receive awards from the Gomel Regional Executive Committee. In 2016 - 9, in 2017 14 students of the district were awarded certificates and prizes of the Mozyr District Executive Committee.
The city conducts a large career guidance work with students with the support of parents working for industrial enterprises. One of the striking examples is the system of work with OAO Mozyr Oil Refinery.
The degree of satisfaction with the system of organizing leisure activities for children and youth in the city was 6.9 points.
The city is proud of children's dance and vocal groups, such as "Paleska Zorachka", "Svayachki", "Alexis", "Constellation", "Fantasy", "Cipollino", "AS-Dance" and others.
The entertainment center "Sputnik" became the organizer of the karaoke competition for children "I sing" (2016), the quest game for youth "Detective show" (2017)
In 2016-2017, the anti-cafe “Apartment No. 15” actively operates in Mozyr, where young people, adults and children constantly gather to participate in intellectual, psychological and entertaining games and quests.
Last year, 2,515 school students were covered by useful employment during the summer period in school camps, 245 students worked in labor camps with the support of the Department of Labor, Employment and Social Protection under projects with the first wages. The department for labor, employment and social protection of the Mozyr regional executive committee, the department of education, sports and tourism of the Mozyr regional executive committee, the MZUE of the Gomel branch of RUE Beltelecom, the KSUP Mozyr vegetable factory, as well as educational institutions actively contributed to this.
Free meals at the expense of the republican or local budgets are provided to students from low-income families, from families with three or more children under the age of 18, and from among disabled children (2 or 3 meals a day).
Despite the fact that the degree of satisfaction with the system of organization of assistance to children in difficult life situations in
in Mozyr, according to surveys of children and parents, it was 7 points out of 10, among all indicators this indicator turned out to be the lowest and amounted to 5.1 points out of 10. In this regard, all structures related to this issue will need to expand a number of measures to create conditions to improve it. School administrations, together with the Youth Parliament, need to develop and publish for each student a children's directory of the city, which will contain all the necessary telephone numbers to seek help in a difficult life situation.
Indeed, a lot of purposeful work is being carried out in Mozyr to create appropriate conditions for the life and development of children. Regardless of age, nationality, health status and other characteristics, all children of our city have access to medical care, education and housing, and can spend their free time with benefit.
The indicator of friendliness index for children in Mozyr for all subjective and objective parameters was 6.9. The best indicators were noted in the following parameters: “Health protection and healthy lifestyle life” – 8.1; "Education and Development" - 7.7; "Living environment" - 7.5.
The results of the study identified the problematic field of activity: "Safety of children in the city" - 6.4 and "Help in a difficult life situation" - 5.1.
In the social partnership between adults and children, there are, of course, problems that have yet to be solved. For example, funding children's and youth projects, establishing partnerships with other child-friendly cities. It is planned to implement the project in 2018, which won the 1st place in the project competition - the installation of the stella "I love Mozyr" on the Mound of Glory.
It is planned to take into account the suggestions of children to create brighter flower arrangements in the city.
Develop a volunteer movement, hold charity events "Children for Children".
To expand work with city enterprises to provide young people with jobs in the summer.
