The basis of the new unit in the Airborne Forces - airborne assault battalion with a deployment in the Crimea - will be the inhabitants of the republic. This was announced by the commander of the Russian Airborne Forces, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, after the ceremony of presenting the Battle Banner to the battalion command.
“The battalion will be staffed by 70% with contract servicemen and, of course, its core will be residents of Crimea,” he said.
According to the commander of the Airborne Forces, the created unit is highly mobile, it is armed with wheeled armored vehicles, which are capable of operating in various directions using various types of aircraft.
The battalion is fully equipped and equipped with the most modern small arms and equipment that will allow him to fulfill his tasks not only in the Crimea, but also in other regions of Russia.
Commander of the Airborne Forces Andrey Serdyukov presented the command of the battalion with a combat banner and a letter of the President of the Russian Federation.
The ceremony was attended by the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, the city leadership, members of the public, in particular, Afghan veterans, citizens.
Today, December 2, in Feodosia, solemn events were held dedicated to the Day of the formation of the 171st separate airborne assault battalion of the seventh "mountain" guards airborne assault division.
In the morning, earlier than an hour before the official start of the solemn ceremony, spectators began to gather at the Kristall stadium. They were presented with an exhibition of samples military equipment and small arms, which are in service with the airborne troops, including the Feodosia 171 ODSHB. Namely, special military vehicles, amphibious ATVs, armored vehicles, items of mountain and airborne property, unmanned aerial vehicles and other amphibious equipment. A recruitment center under a contract for military service was also deployed here.
The stands of the stadium, filled to overflowing with spectators, were decorated with military-patriotic banners. In particular, banners were installed above the central stand: “7 Guards Red Banner Orders of Suvorov and Kutuzov Air Assault Division (Mountain)”, “171 Separate Air Assault Battalion” and “Happy Holidays, Combat Friends!”.
The solemn part began with a concert, it was opened by the winners of all-Russian and international army competitions Mikhail Kalinkin with the song "VDV" and Arthur Sayanov, who sang "No one but us!". As well as the vocal group of the song and dance ensemble of the Airborne Forces and the Obelisk group, which later repeatedly performed patriotic numbers.
Then the announcer announced the history of the formation of the airborne troops and 171 ODSHB. Under the national anthem, the banner group brought the flag of the Russian Federation and the flag of the Airborne Forces. They demonstrated demonstrative battles and parachute jumps, reconnaissance and tactical actions to capture and destroy a mock enemy who "blocked a strategically important object" using imitation tools.
