HOW TO TRANSPORT FLOWERS AND NOT LET THEM DIE ON THE ROAD?

  • Ready houseplants follows in advance. In the bustle of gathering, try to forget about your pets for three days and do not water. By the day of the move, the ground in the flower pots should be dry, as in a drought period. To prevent dry soil from spilling out during transport, cover it with cardboard circles that you can cut yourself.
  • The biggest hassle when moving long plants, so in order not to damage their stems, you need to stock up on wooden pegs. Insert a peg into the center of the pot and carefully tie the stems of the plant to it. If the plant is too bushy and branchy, then you will need a few pegs.
  • The upper part of large plants is the most exposed and fragile. Secure it by wrapping it in a linen bag or oilcloth.

  • With small flowers, things are much easier. Such undersized plants as violets can be placed in carton boxes, and organize small cardboard partitions between the pots. If you are moving in the winter, then it will not be superfluous to take care of the heating of the sufferers being transported. Having the opportunity to transport flowers in your own car about creating special climatic conditions you can not think. Don't have your own car? Then in boxes with plants, put plastic bottles filled hot water, and fill all the free space with soft paper or scraps from the packaging film of the one with bubbles.
  • Using the services of a company that deals with transportation and renting a large truck complete with movers, warn the latter that the flowers need to be loaded last.
  • Be sure to ensure that large plants are securely fastened.
  • It also happens that it is not possible to transport flowers directly in pots. What to do in this case? Don't panic and don't get upset. Go to the store and buy moss. Next, you need to carefully take out the plants, cover their roots with wet moss and pack them in separate bags. To transport them, you will need a box, which must be lined with foam, but only if you are moving in the winter.
  • In the warm season, immediately after arriving at a new place, indoor plants need to be unpacked and poured with lukewarm water. If the move took place in the winter, then you should not immediately unpack the flowers. Let them get used to room temperature and only after a few hours remove the packaging.
  • It is quite possible that you will have a desire to fertilize plants that have succumbed to such a perverted torture. Don't do this under any circumstances! You can fertilize them only after they start up new shoots.

Transportation of plants is a laborious process that requires careful preparation. After all, one wrong step can damage the flowers and lead the plants to death. If you are worried about the safety of plants, pay them as much attention during transportation as you would other things.

How to prepare plants for a move

It is better to start preparing two weeks before the scheduled date of the move. First of all, you need to choose a package. For transportation, plastic containers into which flowers are transplanted are best suited. Transportation in pots is not safe, as they can break easily. In this case, the plant will be left without capacity, which will lead to its death!

Transplanting flowers should be started a week before moving. If you do not have time to transplant, you can leave the plants in pots. Then the pots are put into cardboard boxes and separated by partitions. As partitions, you can use cardboard, paper, fabric or foam rubber.

It is important to choose a box according to the size of the pots. Those. in one box it is necessary to make plants approximately the same in terms of parameters. The best option is to use a separate container for each plant.

The GruzVoz company also presents other packaging materials. Employees of the company will select the appropriate container depending on the parameters of your plants.

Stop watering the flowers one to two days before your move date so that the soil becomes firm and doesn't crumble during transit. Start packing immediately before moving.

How to properly pack plants

Wrap the branches and stems carefully with a plastic bag, paper or bubble wrap. Then we install containers or pots in cardboard boxes. We fill free gaps in the container with paper, cloth or cardboard.

Small plants often fit completely into the box easily. In this case, close the container tightly and wrap it with tape. Cut holes on the sides of the container so that the green pet breathes.

Large specimens are transported in a regular bag made of linen or oilcloth. Place the pot on the bottom of the bag and tie the bag around the outside. The packaging is similar to how Christmas trees are packaged. In warm weather, large plants can also be placed in cardboard boxes, and the top left hanging out.

If you are transporting a cactus or other thorny plant, use pieces of Styrofoam. Secure them with tape on the thorns. This will help preserve the thorns and prevent you from getting hurt during the packing process.

GruzVoz companies can easily and quickly handle packing, loading and unloading capricious pets. Entrust transportation to professionals, and not a single plant will suffer during the move!

Transportation of plants: at a close distance and to another city

You can not transport flowers in the trunk of a car, as well as on the roof of the car. A small and stuffy trunk inside the car will destroy the flowers, because they will not receive oxygen. The roof rack of a car is also not suitable for transportation, since it will not be possible to securely fix the plant without damage. With such transportation, the earth will fall out of the pots. In addition, flowers can suffer severe heat stroke from the sun or damage from wind and dust.

To deliver flowers around the city, it is better to use a truck, the van of which is equipped with special fastening straps and other means. It is good if there are windows in the body that can be used for ventilation.

When moving far and moving to another city, it is better to use a separate car. The ideal option will become, which maintains the required temperature throughout the trip.

Of course, for many, ordering a separate flower car for a standard office or apartment move is a hardly feasible option. Therefore, when loading, follow the following rules:

  • Of all things, install the plants in the van last;
  • Arrange large specimens first, then small ones, and finally “problem” plants that require special attention;
  • Make sure that there are no heavy objects nearby that, when moving the machine, could fall and damage the flowers;
  • Securely fix the cargo so that it does not move during transportation;
  • When moving long distances, including moving to another city, periodically open the van to let the flowers breathe (if there are no windows).

The company contains dozens of different variants of trucks. The manager of the company will definitely select the transport that is suitable for the delivery of indoor plants.

After transportation

When the plants are delivered to the new location, immediately unpack the boxes. Remove the wrapper, remove paper, tape and other auxiliary packaging items. Clean the flowers of damaged branches and leaves. Pour warm water, then arrange in place.

When watering, use exactly warm water, as it will quickly equalize the temperature of the plants and with the temperature in the room. According to research, flowers recover well after a stressful move when watered at 25-30 degrees above zero.

How to transport flowers in winter

When transporting in cold weather, place two small plastic bottles of hot water in the box between the pots. Gaps are filled with paper or cloth. Warm bottles will keep your pets warm.

Flowers must be transported in a fully closed container. If the plant does not fit, then cover with a bag or pack it entirely in a bag. Carefully twist the branches of large specimens, fix with pegs and wrap with insulating material.

To order an office or apartment move in Moscow and the Moscow region, call the company manager or leave a request on the website. We deliver 7 days a week 24 hours a day!

Usually in winter, the desire to buy a new plant increases, so that at least from the inside, at home, there is some kind of greenery. It always happens - the less greenery on the street, the greater the desire to plant greenery on the windowsill. But the trouble is that the plants sold in the winter have already gone through the stress associated with transportation, and extra transportation (especially unsuccessful) can simply ruin them.
When we moved house, I transported plants in the winter from the old place of residence to the new one. I transported for a long time, in several stages: I have a lot of plants, and most of them are so large that it was possible to transport only one per trip. In the case of one or two plants, everything is simpler, but certain rules must be followed.

Plants are usually ready to endure 10-15 minutes of cooling without damage - this is what I took advantage of. In my case, the move was quite short. But even when buying a new plant, the time spent in the cold is also short. As long as the box keeps warm, the car will already have time to warm up, or the plants will already be in the subway (or other public transport), where it is quite warm and you can not be afraid for the plants to freeze.
With large plants, this method, of course, does not work. Therefore, for large specimens, I made a bag (one meter wide and three meters long) from thin oilcloth. With the same success, you can use polyethylene or even paper (but paper can tear).
The length and width of the bag were such that both the pot placed on the “bottom” and the crown of the plant were freely placed in it. To make the plant more compact during transportation, the bag was tied with ropes on the outside (like a Christmas tree during transportation). You can also use duct tape, but I needed a "reusable" bag, so I preferred the ropes. About ten large plants a meter and a half high were transported.

The longest was bougainvillea - four meters long, as it turned out. Before moving, she grew, bending under the ceiling. Bougainvillea usually loses almost all the leaves after transportation, but then grows new ones. As a result of the move, my bougainvillea did not shed a single leaf! She lost only two leaves, which simply did not fit in the bag and therefore froze on the street. However, she did not throw them off - it was I who tore them off myself when I saw that they were frozen - they remained green, but withered. In addition to the transportation itself, it is important to properly prepare the plants for it. Before moving, I did not water them for several days, so that there was no water in the ground, which could freeze during transportation and damage the roots. Naturally, it is also not necessary to spray the plants in front of the road. For several days before transportation, it is better to refrain from watering and spraying - this can kill plants during winter transportation. The 80-cm pachypodium turned out to be a very difficult plant to transport (I call it "cactus with leaves"). The problem was that it was too prickly, too big and outweighed the pot. In any case, it would have to be supported by a prickly trunk during transfer and transportation. The way out has been found! On the thorns, I fastened pieces of foam plastic with a wide layer (to take it with my hands), wrapped the foam plastic with wide adhesive tape so that it would not fall off. After such preparation, the plant was placed in a "bag" of oilcloth. I carried the pachypodium, holding its pot in one hand, and with the other hand, holding the plant by the part of the stem that I "secured" with foam. Neither the spines of the pachypodium nor my hands were affected as a result.

Probably, any large cacti can be transported in the same way.
After transporting and installing the plants in a new place, they should immediately be watered with warm water (slightly warmer than room temperature), since the plants were not watered for a long time before transportation. This is also required in order for the temperature of the earth to equalize with room temperature as quickly as possible. And the sooner this happens, the better for the plants. Moreover, the more the earth in the pot cooled during transportation, the more warm water you need to use (but not hotter than 30-32 degrees).
If you do not plan to transport your plants from apartment to apartment in winter, but just suddenly suddenly want to buy a plant you like in a store, I would advise you to postpone this purchase - because you do not have with you the necessary, prepared in advance, appropriate reliable packaging for plants.
And when you purposefully go to the flower shop in the cold season to buy a potted plant, why not take a large plastic bag or a folded cardboard box with you? They will help

One of the most common hobbies of modern women is growing houseplants. Lovely ladies never forget to water the flowers and always carefully monitor the temperature in the room where they are. Moreover, some women love their roses and cacti so much that they even talk to them and perceive them as silent members of the family. Can you imagine how they worry if suddenly there is a need to transport plants dear to the heart? And if it also needs to be done in the cold season? That is why we decided to write this article.

Preparing flowers for the move.

We recommend that you proceed as follows: Purchase cardboard boxes for shipping. The ideal option is, of course, such containers that will fit the size of the pots, that is, you will place one flower in one container. But even if you have to put 2-3 plants in each package, then you should not be upset! You just need to put a seal between them, which will not allow them to touch. Crumpled paper, soft fabric, and foam rubber can play this role.

Further, a day or two before X hour, watering the plants should be stopped - this is necessary so that the soil in the pots becomes hard enough. In this way, you can be sure that the roots will be preserved even after driving on rough roads, because, unlike wet soil, dry soil will not fall out of the containers so easily.

There is a lot of work ahead of you right before you move. First, you need to pack the plants. Branches and stems that can be easily damaged during transportation should be carefully wrapped with paper or plastic bags. (Of course, it's best to use bubble wrap, but if you can't get that, the two materials previously mentioned are fine too.)

Then place flower containers in cardboard boxes. If the plants are small enough and completely fit in the container, then it should be tightly closed and glued with tape. On the side, you need to cut as many small holes as possible - they will allow your pet to breathe. Many flowers, however, cannot be placed entirely in the box - long stems or branches will remain outside. Then just do not close the box from above, but remember that such instances will need to be installed in the car last.

Transportation of plants

At this stage of preparation can be considered completed. But now comes the turn of transportation. First, let's say a few words about transport. The stuffy trunk of a passenger car is absolutely not suitable for indoor plants, so it is better not to use it. A special truck should be ordered with a large number of fixing belts and, if possible, with windows to periodically ventilate the body. But even if the latter will not be, it's okay. In any case, such a machine will be much better suited for transporting flowers.

And now the car you ordered is already under the window, and you need to load boxes with indoor plants into it. It is best, of course, to transport them separately from the rest of the property, but we understand that most often this is unrealistic. Therefore, use at least the following advice - install flowers in the body last. In addition, make sure that there are no heavy objects nearby that could fall and thus damage the houseplants. You should also securely fix the boxes - they should not move while driving.

Now you can hit the road! It would seem that at the stage of direct transportation, little depends on you. But actually it is not. After all, it is in your power to ask the driver to be as careful as possible, choose a route with the most even roads and make sure that the car stops periodically in the event of a long journey, and your flowers receive a portion fresh air.

What to do upon arrival at the destination

Finally, the plants are delivered to their destination. Now you need to carefully bring them into the house and unpack them. Then they should be watered, and you should not do this with cool water. Biologists have found that after a stressful move, plants tolerate a warm shower (25-30 degrees) best of all - it is with them that you will please your favorite flowers. After that, carefully remove the leaves and stems affected during transportation. Now it remains only to put the pots in their places, and in a few days you will see that the precious flora is again ready to delight you with its flowering appearance.

A couple more nuances

Finally, I would like to dwell on one more question that so worries many: “How to protect plants from frost if the move falls on the cold season?”. In fact, it is quite simple - two small bottles of warm water should be placed in each cardboard box, and a flower pot should be placed between them. But in no case do not overdo it, because high temperatures are just as harmful as low ones.

By the way, since we are talking about the negative impact of heat, it is worth saying a few words about the transportation of plants in the summer. In this case, you need to stop every 2-3 hours and ventilate the car body. Just don't rest in the sun. It is better to find a place in the shade where you can relax yourself.

As you have already seen, the transportation of plants is a complex process for which you need to prepare in advance and pay as much attention as the transportation of all other things combined. We hope that our advice will help you in this difficult matter. The main thing is to remember that it is the love that you give to flowers that will help them survive stress and begin to delight you in your new apartment.

Moving an apartment is an event that requires responsible care for your relatives, pets, personal property. And, of course, indoor plants and flowers that decorate your home deserve attention too. For them, moving is stressful. If you want them to continue to please you, you need to carefully transport them to a new place of residence. In this article, we will tell you what you need to do to do this.

How to prepare indoor flowers for the move?

Two days before the move, it is better to stop watering and spraying the plants, as the potted soil must be dry so as not to damage root system during transportation. You can cut out circles from cardboard or thick paper according to the size of the diameters of the pots and cover the soil with them so that it does not spill out when transporting indoor plants and flowers.

How to pack indoor plants and flowers during transportation, moving?

Arrange small plants in boxes, placing cardboard partitions between the pots. Alternatively, seal the free space with newspaper so that the pots are fixed and do not touch each other.

Tie the stems of medium-sized flowers to pegs stuck in the center of the pot. Wrap houseplants in paper and tie at the top. For branched plants, it is necessary to fix several pegs along the edges of the pot, tie them at the top. Wrap the entire structure with paper and tie at the crown.

For tall indoor flowers, pick up a bag of linen or oilcloth, a little wider and longer than the plant itself. The pot is placed at the bottom of the bag, which is tied on top with tape or rope. Outside, the bag is carefully wrapped with twine so as not to damage the crown. In case of cold weather, the flower can be insulated with an additional layer of film.

To protect your prickly houseplant from breakage of the spikes during transportation, and you from scratches, pin pieces of Styrofoam on the spikes and secure them with tape. Handle them especially carefully, as the needles are usually quite fragile and brittle.

How to transport indoor plants and flowers during cold weather and protect them from freezing in winter when moving?

If home flowers are transported during the cold season, place plastic bottles with hot water in a box with plants, fill the remaining space with crumpled paper. Close the lid with tape. Such packaging will save your favorite plants from freezing. When transporting large indoor plants, the branches are carefully twisted, fixed to pegs and wrapped with several layers of felt or other insulating material.

How to arrange indoor flowers in the car when loading during a move?

Houseplants are loaded onto a truck at the very end. First, large specimens are arranged, then boxes with small indoor flowers, and last of all, “problematic” ones that require special handling. You should secure them in the car to ensure they are immobile during the time.

Upon arrival at a new place, the flowers need to be unpacked and the wrapper removed. Inspect each plant, remove damaged leaves and branches. Pour warm water over immediately. This will equalize the temperature of the soil with the ambient temperature and houseplants will recover faster after transportation. Until new shoots appear, do not apply fertilizer to the ground. Now you can arrange flowers in the apartment: light-loving ones closer to the windows, shade-loving ones away from the sun.

If you followed all the above tips, then your houseplants will easily transfer the move to new apartment or house. And again they will delight you, create comfort and good mood!

During transportation, any plant must be firmly packed, fixed inside the car body so as not to damage the stem and leaves. Our experienced movers are responsible for this issue. All pots are placed in boxes and wrapped with a special film. Special temperature regime inside the car body will avoid the negative effects of cold or wind. Therefore, we guarantee 100% safety of each plant.

Indoor plants are in almost every home, they decorate the room and delight the eye. Like all living creatures, flowers are susceptible to environmental conditions, so moving becomes a real test for them. Plants can die from cold or heat, break down on the road if not properly transported. In order for your pets to reach their destination in full force, carefully study our recommendations.

Step one: prepare for the move in advance

Millions of women in our country are fond of breeding indoor flowers. Some housewives love plants so much that they grow entire flower beds on windowsills at home. Lovely ladies create heavenly conditions for flowers - I carefully tie up the stems, carefully monitor the microclimate in the room, and follow a certain watering schedule. On the eve of the move, the owners are very worried about their flower garden. How to transport copies dear to the heart?

A small journey will pass unnoticed by living plants, if you prepare for it correctly. The action plan looks like this:

  • Stop watering the plants about three days before moving.
  • Prepare packing materials based on the size of your home greenhouse.
  • Carefully study the information on how to properly pack flowers for transportation.

Transporting live plants in wet soil is not worth it. Loose and soft soil is not able to firmly hold the root system, and while driving on uneven roads, it easily spills out of the pot. In order for the earth to remain exactly in the flowerpot, experts recommend cutting out cardboard circles and closing the base of the flower - this must be done even with dry soil. Not having certain knowledge and skills, it is difficult to understand all the nuances of packing and transporting plants. We offer from the company "Domozov". An experienced team will arrive at a convenient time for you, carefully pack and load the flowers, as well as the rest of the owner's luggage. The firm has set affordable rates for its services.

Step Two: Packing Rules

A large area of work before moving is the packing of live plants. In order not to run around the shops in search of packaging on the last day, buy materials in advance. First of all, you will need cardboard boxes. Ideally, the containers should match the size of the pots. For each flowerpot - individual packaging. Didn't find such container? Then buy cardboard boxes for transporting two or three plants at a time. Depending on the size and type of plants, there are different packing rules:

  • Miniature flowers must be put in boxes, a sealant should be laid between the flowerpots - a soft cloth, newspapers, foam rubber. Seal the boxes with tape and make holes on the sides for oxygen to enter.
  • Plants of medium height should be tied to pegs. Wrap the branched part with paper, then tie it on top. Now you can put flowers in boxes.
  • Large specimens are transported without containers. Place the pot directly on the bottom of a linen or plastic bag, which is tied at the top with tape. In addition, wrap the bag with twine - this will protect the crown of the flower.
  • Thorny plants are difficult to carry and load into a car. Using tape, attach pieces of foam to the spikes - this way you keep the spikes safe and sound and protect yourself from scratches.

When moving, there are situations when it is impossible to transport plants in pots. How to ensure the safety of your pets in this case? Wet moss will help keep the flowers alive - cover the roots with it, then pack the plants in bags.

Step three: safe transportation

At this stage, the preparation of plants is considered completed. Now comes the turn of the most important event - the transport of flowers. In this case, it is very important to choose vehicle. The stuffy, cramped trunk of a car is not designed to carry live plants. In order not to ruin your flower garden, order a specially equipped cargo van with fixing straps. Ideally, live plants should be transported separately from other things. But in practice it turns out differently - when moving, all the master's luggage is sent in droves to the back of the car. You can save flowers on a trip by following our tips:

  • Houseplants should be loaded into the box last.
  • Do not place heavy things near the flowers that could fall.
  • Flowerpots and boxes with indoor plants must be securely fixed.

Now you can start your journey! Do not leave your pets unattended on the road. Ask the driver to choose a safe speed. If you have a long road ahead, make stops from time to time - open and ventilate the back of the van. Thus, flowers placed in vehicles will receive a portion of fresh air. Are you planning to move in the cold? Put plastic bottles with hot water in the boxes with plants - the packaging will save the flowers from freezing.

Step four: actions upon arrival

Having overcome the planned route, quickly unload the flowers from the body. In the warm season, do not leave the plants in the package - immediately remove the wrapper, pour them with warm water. In winter, on the contrary, you should not rush ... You need to unpack the flowers after they get used to room temperature.

Caring housewives after the move seek to immediately fertilize the plants, add strength to their growth. Under no circumstances should this be done! Fertilizer is carried out only after your pets have started up new shoots. Transportation of flowers is a complex and time-consuming procedure. Do not neglect our advice. If there is no time to come close to preparing plants, entrust the task to professionals.

How to transport plants over a long distance

Many tourists have such a hobby - to bring from different countries plants that can be grown in the country or at home on the windowsill. These are cyclamens, and crocuses, and fuchsias, and spindle trees, and a variety of ivy, and hibiscus and many other plants.

Plants need take from the place of collection to the house, and this is usually not one day. It is better to dig up or cut only those plants about which it is known for sure that they are not rare and endangered, and which have a chance to take root far from their homeland.

Moreover, it must be borne in mind that it is impossible to transport plants across the border, and even more so with land - a violation of quarantine instructions (see rules below). So there is some risk.

One wanderer the botanist told how he was carrying some kind of gentian from Nepal, packed it in a tin can with earth, and put it in a backpack. At Sheremetyevo, the customs officers examined him and had to explain to them for a long time that these were not hemp seedlings at all.

Cuttings desirable cut with nail scissors or tweezers, it's faster and safer. It is better to take cuttings with at least five leaves. The time of year does not play a role, both April and October cuttings successfully take root.

If it took root more than half of the cuttings, then this is already very good result. How to cut a cutting without attracting much attention? You can, for example, ask your companion to study a map of the city, it will perfectly cover a botanist tourist, who at that time will cut off a small stalk. Or pretend to photograph plants...

And, of course, the chief principle - do no harm. After all, no one will be pleased if in the morning he does not find his favorite bell in the garden.

In the field you also need to be careful - in some countries it is forbidden to pluck, cut any plants. For example, in Finland, moss and lichens, as well as some types of rare plants.

Five ways to pack plants for long haul

Method 1. Food film.
You can use cling film, especially if the plants are large enough. You start wrapping it from the root and go up, thereby gently pressing the branches.
For small things, you can use containers, but it is better to place plants wrapped in foil in them too.

Method 2. Sphagnum.
It's good to have sphagnum with you. If possible, shake off the roots of plants from the soil, wrap them with sphagnum, moisten them and wrap them tightly in plastic bags with adhesive tape. Slots for air flow should be made only in bags covering the aerial part of the plant. Various wrapped small things can be put in plastic food containers. The method is simple and very reliable. Plants take up little space and are perfectly preserved.

Method 3. Plastic bags.
Take with you rolls of plastic bags of 2-3 formats, starting with the minimum (under the Alpine trifle). Wrap an earthen clod in a bag, the green part remains open. Put the swaddled plants in a plastic container. If the grass is delicate and it’s a pity to crush it, then vertically - clod to whom, green upwards.

If these are hard saxifrag pillows, then you can use a jack, as it is more convenient. Then two or three containers can be placed on the bottom of a strong plastic bag or travel bag, not too large so that there is no problem carrying it onto the plane as hand luggage. On top, for masking, you can put something that will not suppress the plants, but hide them well, such as a windbreaker jacket. You can also put in the Duty free package of the place where you are departing from, then, as travelers say, upon arrival, customs officers are not interested in this package at all.

Method 4. A glass of water.
On the bus, the cuttings travel perfectly in a glass of water and a napkin torn into small pieces, which stands or hangs in a bag. During the day, the bag opens to let in the light, and is insulated at night, especially in May and September. Once every three days they can be taken to the hotel room to wash and change the water.

Before the border, it is better to disguise them. Some plants can withstand such a nomadic lifestyle for two whole weeks ... And fuchsia and honeysuckle Honeysuckle even bloomed with fright.

Method 5. Plastic bottle.
The method is suitable for those who did not take any film or containers with them. You can buy in the store mineral water in the right size bottle. Cut an empty bottle in half. In the lower part, put the cuttings, pre-wrapped with wet toilet paper. Cover with the top of the bottle and put in a bag. Many cuttings will endure the road at 12-14 o'clock.

There are not so many people who are enthusiastic about moving. They are especially disliked by the owners of houseplants. Packing clothes, dishes, a cat and a guinea pig - all this is nonsense compared to preparing houseplants for moving. Each grower, even a novice amateur, has his own secrets and knowledge in this area.
